Surgery Scheduled But Having Second Thoughts Posted: 10-08-05 07:00am
Good morning all,
i am 34 years old and i'm scheduled to
have a partial hysterectomy (removal of
ovaries and uterus) this tues, oct 11th,
due to a prolapsed uterus. This is an
elective surgery for I have no fibroids or
anything else that I know of. However, I
did all the paperwork at the hospital
(pre-op registration and lab work) and
even paid my $500 deductible, but now i'm
beginning to have second thoughts. I'm
starting to wonder if it's really worth
going through all of this just for
'vanity' sake. I've been reading about
all of the negative afteraffects that can
occur after surgery (some of which I read
about in the message posts) and i'm just
plain scared at this point. I wonder if
there would be any legal/economic
penalties if I did back out at this point
(less than 3 days away).
I have two children so I don't want
anymore kids, but I even have to ask
myself is it worth risking my life over.
Any help or advice you ladies can give me
would be most appreciated.

Hi! My name is cindy I was suppose to
have complete hysterectomy 2 years ago
but fear kept me from doing so. Now I am
facing a possible colostemy and bowel
resection. Yes our situations are really
different. But did your dr tell you on
down the road with your prolblem now could
it get worse? Did you tell your dr that
you have second thoughts?Does it not feel
uncomfortable to have a prolapsed uterus?
Talk to you dr and make your decision from
there. If its a not needed surgery don't
have it ,but I find out what it may bring
later down the road wether it will make
your condition worse or not. I have made
myself a mess, wish I would of had my
surgery 2 years ago. Bye and take care
best of luck.

Please Read If You Are Thinking About It! Posted: 10-09-05 21:02pm
My name is rachel. I'm 27 years old. :(
it's been a year since my hyst. I have
had problems ever since, I was younger. I
had cervical cancer when I was 15 years
old. I'm not kidding you, it really was
down hill ever since. I've had so,so many
laps done and coneing of the cervix.
Cysts on my ovaries that were the size of
grapefruits. After my third child, I had
discussed with my husband how sex was just
getting too painful. I wanted the
surgery! My uterus was prolapsed and I
continued to have the cysts.
Immediately after surgery I wasn't feeling
emotionally stable.
I was crying most of the day. I even had
thoughts of suicide. I felt and I still
feel like a part of me is missing.I will
never hit the sexual peek that my
girlfriends are enjoying!!! I don't want
to have sex with my husband. And that
really is the hardest part of all of this.
To see him struggle and battle with me
about that! I'd rather him go find a
girlfriend at times. And that is not me
to even say that!!! I tell my friends
that joke about having a hyst. To never
do it! If I could go back I would. I
would live with the pain I was in. So
please. Do alot of research before you do
it!!!!!
Talk with woman who have had one.
Decide for yourself if it's worth it.
You really won't ever be the same...
To the woman who are great after a hyst.
You are lucky!

Hysterectomy Posted: 10-31-05 23:15pm
I am 37 yrs old and had a partial
hysterectomy a year ago. I had a fibriod
the size of a 5 month fetus and they
thought it may be cancerous. I was able
to keep my overies thankfully. I was also
concerned about having it since I have no
children and always wanted some, but for
health reasons, I thought it was for the
best. I have started to experience mood
swings but nothing to major, and I have
experienced an increase in my sex
drive~~go figure. I think you need to
figure out what is best for you. If your
health is an issue, wouldn't it be best to
get one done. There will always be
positives and negatives with this kind of
surgery. You need to weigh them all
before making your decision. : )
