:d hi my 15 year old daughter had strep
throat 1 month ago. She was put on a
antibiotc. This was only the second time
in her life for a antibiotc. Her symptoms
went away although another swab indicated
the presence of strep, but she had no
symptoms. At the same time she developed
pain on her left side just below the rib
cage. We have recieved opinons like
ovarion cysts of which she is booked for a
us but not untill jan. They put her on
mefenamic 250 mg. But when she takes it
it gives her pains similar to gall bladder
pains. In the mean time this pain as
migrated to the right side and back again.
This is what made them think it was cysts
I am wondering if the strep she had could
have any bearing? She has had all the
blood tests. Mono, etc. Yesterday she
woke up crying with it. We tried to see a
doctor, but in this town it is impossible.
Could my theory be right? All people
that had this flu and then the strep seem
to take a long time to recover. Like I
said before she has not been sick other
then when she was 3 with tonsillitis. Any
inf would be great. Thanks patsy

Cyst pain normally stays in one spot and
unless it is a sever cyst they normally
dissolve in a few days. Trying placing
heat on the stomach when she is in pain it
will help to relax the muscles and spasms
in the stomach. Mefenamic is an
inflammatory drug which is known for
causing worse stomach trouble than before.
What was the anti-biotic they placed her
on sometimes that can have an affect on
the way the gi tract functions which could
explain the pain and the change in
location.
