Yea I Sent It Posted: 12-04-03 12:19pm
I sent it, but I guess I dunno what
happened...This is what it said:...Ok, I
moved in here to my cousins house and he
doesn't know where I live or what my # is,
what happens if he can't find me..He can't
do anything can he?...Also, I don't want
to have to go get a lawyer and fight and
fight and fight, so do I write the judge
before or after the baby is born? And
what do I say?...Also, knowing chris, he
has already talked to his lawyers about
fighting for custody...And I really cn't
afford a lawyer and he has the best in the
state..Is there any way that he could get
custody???

No! He cannot. No matter how hard he
tries, there is a form at the court and
you have to write the reasons he cannot
have joint custody, but supervised
visitation, and you put how hes on house
arrest for homicide, put his whole
backround. Then you submit it. You tell
the judge you do not want him knowing
where you currently reside, kind of
putting a temporary restrainging order,
because of his backround. Then they set
court dates to discuss child support and
visitation. You will have more luck with
a lady judge! I can ask my mom about when
you can file it and stuff. She loves
doing these kinds for girls and dead beat
dads! Lol. But you do not need a lawyer,
they will apoint some kind of attorney for
the both of you. Dont worry. If you want
I can ask my mom exactly what you need. I
can call her in a while when my boss
leaves.

Jordan
you file a mediation. And that is what
you do to let the judge know that you want
supervised visits and child supports. And
you list his criminal backround. And the
mediator meets on the court dates to
discuss issues and how much he has to pay.
You wont deal with the father direct, the
mediator is like the middle man, to settle
things, then they show the judge. So
thats what you do. See I asked my sis
whats that form called and she said
mediation and explained it and then my mom
was like "why who needs it? Who's
confused? I can help" and I was like, no
I just couldnt think of the word! Lol.
So if you need help just ask me

Ok let me ask on when you can file it, but
yes he might have to be there, but you do
not have to talk to him, the mediator does
the talking for you two.

When the baby is born you must give it
your last name (which I know you were
doing anyways), you have to file and
.O.S.C after birth, and that is for the
child support and visitation supervision.
Then its going to be alot of paperwork for
the child support and requesting
supervision and stuff. You will maybe be
in court once a month or once every two
months. Or my sister said just go to the
.D.A's office and they will help you with
the paperwork and give you all the right
things. But they might take a while
almost up to a year before you get child
supprt. And he might be in jail by then
so you should collect welfare when your
18. And things such as food stamps for
now, if your not living at home. The
welfare builds up on his name and when hes
out, he has to repay it. And if he
doesnt, they take things like his drivers
licence and suspend it or dont allow him
to have one at all. Because my mom helped
my sister with it, it took about 4 months.
But where you are, it might be different.
My mom said if hes out, start about 1
month before your baby is due to get the
paperwork going. But you might just want
to wait until 18 to collect welfare. But
food stamps you should start now. It
helps alot.
