You should be careful not to eat a lot of
fish. Supposedly fish contains mercury in
it, and too much for the baby is bad. You
should also avoid anything with raw eggs
in it: cookie dough, brownie mix,
mayonaise, etc. Just check carefully to
see if it has raw eggs. Raw eggs can give
you samonella. Also be sure not eat
undercooked meats, especially pork. They
contain harmful bacteria. All meats
should be cooked thoroughly.

I am addicted to red bull. When I became
pregnant I stop drinking them the minuet I
found out. But my sister (who is also
pregnant) asked her doctor and he said a
couple a week is fine, it's just like
drinking soda. My sister does not drink
them, she also feels caffein is bad for
the baby.

I think that they try to get you to
minimise your coffee intake as caffine is
a stimulant and will make your baby's
heart race. I understand that you can
eat fish once or twice a week, but not
really any more than that due to mercury
as teach486 said.
You are meant to keep away from
prawns.....But I have to say that I have
just tucked into a lovely prawn salad for
breakfast....But have only eaten a little
bit....I really want to eat sushi...But
have been advised to steer clear!
Gutted!!

Soft cheeses are nono's too. Things like
brie, feta, etc.. Shrimp and most fish
are fine but not too often.

Wow! I didn't know there was things u
shouldn't eat! I'm glad i'm coming here
to find some of this stuff out. I'm
trying to learn all the important things
to know before I get pregnant. I'm so
scared i'm going to mess up and hurt my
baby. So i've been trying to learn about
what's good and what's bad before my
husband and I start our family.

wasnt aware sandwiches were hazardous.
Im probably totally missing it sorryif it
was a stupid question.
Thanks for your help,
sheena

ya, I was sad about that too-lol
as for the sandwich meat thing, I was
never told not to eat them, but i'm
guessing it's things like bologna, mock
chicken (the fakies) not things like
turkey, chicken, ham, etc..

To tell a pregnant woman that she can't
eat what she's craving is a bad place to
be in!
Anyone pregnant and a vegetarian who is
craving meat?
Just wondering :)

I can't remember where I read it but I did
read not to eat lucheon meat because
there's two chemicals that are added to
preserve the meat and it isn't good for a
pregnant woman to eat.

Oh, I also read in a website about certain
herbs that shouldn't be taken or used. I
did not recognize most of them except for
flax seed
oregano (if taken in large amounts)
thyme (if taken in large amounts)
there's a whole bunch of them and for
different reasons, but I just recognized
those.
They say to pay attention to what tea you
are drinking as teas usually contain a
strong amount of whatever it is made of.
Just make sure you know which one you are
taking and that it's safe for you while
pregnant.
