At 5 Months My Daughter Had Mastoiditis Posted: 10-12-05 10:57am
She was admited and treated with iv
antibiodics for only four days and
released for an unknown infection when she
was 4 1/2 months old. Two weeks later,
when she was 5 months old, she was
admitted again with wbc of 50,000. They
treated her with iv antibiodics,
discovered mastoiditis, and was treated
for total of two weeks on iv antibiodics,
and four weeks oral antibiodics.
Well, it came back. I think it was about
two weeks later she was admited again for
mastoiditis. The ent doctor put tubes in
her ears, but the fluid drained was clear,
so he said that he doesn't think that it
was an ear-related infection. The
mention of osteymylitis came up.
We dont know for sure if it did get as bad
as osteomylitis, but she was treated with
iv antibiodics for six more weeks.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this
before. The doctors and I are concerned
that she might have an immunity
deficiency. Of course, I dont want to
believe that. What do you think may have
caused this though?????? I am on edge
now...She's been healthy without her picc
line for 20 days now. Each day you would
think i'd feel better and better about it
not comming back...But in actuality it
makes me more and more anxoius with each
passing day.
