I was thinking of doing a little research on that. My cousin told me that there is something you can buy for cheap in the baby section of toys r us and some baby stores. She says i'll be able to hear the heartbeat and it's cheap so i'll be sending my fiancee out soon to see if he can find one.

Yeah, I know what you mean. They're not worth buying it though coz you really cant hear it esp. If in the early weeks of pregnancy. I was planning on buying one before but after some further background research, we ended up renting the "baby beat" fetal monitor. You have a choice either you wanna buy or rent it. We rented it ($21/month) and it works. We had it since I was 8 weeks on my pregnancy. They give you a free tube of lubricant so you're all set.

I think they have the same one from toys 'r' us that they do at wal-mart, the nurse at the doctor's office said it's not very good quality but that maybe we could hear a "whoosh, whoosh" from the baby (at 4 or 5 weeks) but the doctor shot that down real quick.

I rented a doppler from Babybeat.Com and it worked really well. I used it from 12-16 weeks, so I could check in on my baby before I felt him move all the time. I believe it cost $24 and included a small tube of gel (enough for about one month) and included shipping to me & back to them.

on the product is says you can hear late 2nd trimester. You can hear the thumps quite well, but heartbeat is still hard to find. All though I have found it a number of times. I think I even heard the whoosh of the imbilical cord one time. I am 16.1 weeks preg.
