Disk Or Trapezius Damage? Posted: 10-14-05 16:00pm
I suffered an injury a few months ago to
some part of my back, and I have found no
relief of the symptoms during this time.
I am extremely physically active, and it
is hard for me to sit on the sidelines
without knowing the extent of my injury.
I was doing shoulder shrugs with more
weight than I should have been doing. I
felt a pop just below the base of my neck
on what I thought was my spine. After
about a week, the pain had lessoned by I
had numnbess and tingling in my right arm,
particulalry under my bicep and in my
fifth finger. I saw an orthropedic
surgeon who kind of passed me off and said
it was probably an inflammed disk and I
needed rest and relaxation.
I have rested and relaxed, done physical
rehab., and taking anti inflammatories,
but there has been no reduction in the
pain. My trapezius feels particulalry
tight, so I was wondering if there may
have been a tear in the trapezius rather
than an inflammed disk.
I am simply looking for some education.
Also, are there exercises I should and
shouldnt do? I have stopped all high
impact sports and any lifting using the
back, or that would compress the spine.
Also, is anyone familiar with this
physiology and could explain the possilbe
nature of my pain. The Dr. Knew his
stuff, but overlooked me. I would
appreciate any thoughts.
