Symptoms of General Anxiety And Stress?? Posted: 10-17-05 14:03pm
Hi, i've been looking for more info on the
internet regarding my stress and anxiety
and symptoms.
For the past 8 months I have had anxiety
and stress, following a death of a parent.
I have felt mild vertigo (the floor
heaving under me) on and off, muscle
tension, twitches neck ache, tmj, &
jumpiness as well as the usual
preoccupation of all of these symptoms and
the anxiety itself.
I'm now feeling this mild weird sensation
of water drops on my skin, arms, legs etc.
It lasts just a second but happens
throughout the day.
I get in to a visious cycle of worry that
I have ms and then back to anxiety etc.
Has anyone had these symptoms or can offer
any thoughts, reassurance etc.
Tank you!!

You need to go the dr and talk to them.
B.C anxiety and stress is not
healthy....It can be very dangerous. I
have suffer with a lot of that... I got
really scarded and went to the Dr. Now I
am meds....I can feel myself getting
stronger and happier. But there is a lot
I have to work on now...Since my life has
changed!

Thank you. I have been to the doc and
went back on paxil. I've had anxiety and
panic attacks since I was a child. Been
on and off low dose paxil for 10 years.
This is just a really bad bout because of
the death of my dad and caring for him was
very stressful. Since then I feel like my
body is freaking out with all these
(rather minor) symptoms. My doc thinks
its normal anxiety and to watch to see if
I get worse symptoms.
I've just never had the twitching and now
this raindrop feeling on my arms and legs.
I'm constantly reading the medical sites
and checking off all the ms symptoms I
don't have but its a viscious cycle!
I think greiving can almost manifest
physically in an anxiety prone person like
me.

I thought I was going crazy, but my sister
also told me it could be stress and
anxiety. I too losted a parent, and ever
since I have been having sleep problems, I
feel dizzy all the time as if the ground
under me is moving, and I also feel like
water drops hitting my body. I had a
blood test last month and everything was
ok and I got my heart checked; I go back
nov 1st for the results but they didn't
call me back yet so I assume that
everything is ok.

I'm sorry about your loss. It can make
you feel very strange. My gp wasn't too
helpful but I spoke more with a naturopath
and she said that when we are under stress
(like grieving/anxiety) our nervous system
is more stimulated and can fire off
inappropriate messages, then we get all of
these strange sensations and feelings.
I thinks my dizziness is partly tmj
because my jaw and beside my ear aches and
feels painful if I move it a certain way
or open my mouth (like a yawn etc).
Its good to find that other people have
these symptoms and it doesn't mean we have
a terrible disease.
Stress , anxiety, greiving can cause so
much!!!
Take care

i am so sorry for your terrible loss!
9 days ago is so very recent, you must be
in shock at the moment.
Things may be up and down and completely
out of whack for quite a while. For me,
its been 8 months and I still feel it
everyday. You will have good moments too.
Rationally we know that these things do
happen in ones life and yet it seems
incomprehensable that its happened in ours
or that someone as close as our parent can
be gone. It is just unbelievable!
It's so good that you have some support
because I think that talking with people
and knowing that others have experienced
this to some degree or another can be
helpful. Especially in not feeling so
alone or that its somehow unnatural
(though it feels like it). It's also good
to be able to express yourself and not
feel like you have to say you are "doing
alright" all the time to people who
politely ask how you are. Because even if
you are handling it all very well, being
strong and going through it normally, it
is of course very hard and awfully sad,
especially in the beginning and after the
inital flurry of activity and people
subsides.
Please take good care of yourself, nourish
yourself, treat yourself (when possible)
to the things that can realx you and bring
you comfort.
All the very best to you !!!!!!

Do any of you guys get a weird shock
feeling in the middle of your back.
I too also feel the rain drops on my skin,
but I also get this weird shocking feeling
my back. Just wondering if i'm alone.

I don't get the shock feelings in my back.
I've asked my friends and some have had
the raindrop feeling from time to time and
some have even mentioned the shock in the
back when turning head . So, it seems
that unless these symptoms are constant or
accompanied by fatigue and lots of other
stuff, its quite normal. I think if we
have anxiety, we tend to notice these
things more?? I'm really not sure. I
feel all sorts of tiny twinges that come
and go, pains, little shocks etc. That I
don't remember ever having.
Do you have other symptoms or mostly
anxiety and chronic stress?

Well I do think I have some type of
anxiety because i'm easily startled and
one night I woke with my heart racing, I
thought I was going to die. I went to the
cardiologist about 3 weeks ago and they
haven't called me yet. So I think
everything is ok because if it wasn't they
would have called by now. I still worry
even though they haven't called, I always
anticipate the worst. I think I need to
see a psych or something to correct these
problems. But I do definitely think that
I suffer from some form of anxiety.
