Alright, well right now, I am litterly scared/nervious/at wits. I might be freaking out over really nothing but I need your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A couple nights ago, my mothers boyfriend made a meal for her birth day. It was french onion soup. I didn't eat much, just sipped on some of the broth. Well I just found out just a couple minn. Ago, that he put wine as a part of an ingredient of the soup. I am scared out of my mind! I do not know for sure if I am preg or not, but there is a good chance and I do not know what is the limit of any alcohol beverage during pregnancy. All you could taste is the onion, salt and water.( if no one has tried french onion soup, sorry for the detail if it isn't as detailed as it should, french onion soups taste, is something nearly indescribable). I am at wits right now. I have already had bleeding during this time of thinking that I am pregnant and now I had sipped on some substance that had wine in it? What would happen? Could something go wrong? I am scared out of my mind!

A girl I worked with said that her doctor told her that it would be okay to have a little bit of wine when she was pregnant, but not to overdo herself. I really don't know what overdo is either, but he said it was alright to have a tiny bit.

Just from a cook's standpoint: wine is used to add a little bit of flavor to something. Wine has a very strong taste to it and I doubt he put very much in the soup or you would have been able to taste it, probably a 1/2 cup to a cup if that. It probably was just to add a little zing and bitterness. I wouldn't get too worried about it. I looked up a onion soup recipe and the most I see in the ingredients is a cup.

If you are pregnant though you will want to make sure you don't take in alot of alcohol (beer, hard liquor, etc) as it can be harmful to a baby if enough is ingested.

If you are really worried about it, ask the doctor. You could probably even call the pharmacy and they could help you.

Hope I was able to help some...

Cooking Wine.
Generally, when someone adds liquor to something that doesn't have "liquor" in the name (cooking-wise). The liquor is cooked out of it, something about the heat and evaporation or something.

(i'm mormon-- we don't drink) that's why it's ok for me to eat at fancy restaurants that use sherry and such in their foods!

yea most of the time the alcohol is set out before hand and allowed to go flat as well before adding it to the food, then when it is cooked the alcohol is evaporated out.

I drank half a bottle of rum and smoked some weed the week before I found out I was pregnant and my son is fine. Yes they say a lil alcohol while pregnant is ok but once I knew I was pregnant I stopped everything, but if you don't even know if you are pregnant yet, don't worry, especially since it was in cooking, there is little to no alcohol left.

 *little embarassed now* alright, thank you all for your generous comments. I knew that I was freaking out over really nothing, but having a healthy pregnancy is something that is my dream. I hear so many girls having so many things wrong with their pregnancies and I just wish I wont be one of them.
And alright, if we put it like this. I find out I am pregnant . I had bleeding during pregnancy and now I had some contact with alcohol. Its just the thought of so many things going wrong and I wouldn't wish for anything to go wrong. Understand where i'm coming from? But yes, thank you all, you all put me at ease. Thank you. I love this site!

That's alright. It's normal to freak out about things like that. I would have too if I didn't cook a lot and didn't know about that.

Nevaeh Keepin Her Head Up
Hola, sorry that I am writing so late but I have been very busy.

Well to update: I am not pregnant after all! *sad but gota live my life*. This was my second thought of being pregnant but it is just not the right time( I am not trying to conceive, its just when it happens, this though is always running through my head). But I must say, I had pregnancy symptoms but it wasn't me that was pregnant it was my mom! She is having a baby by her now fiance whch I can not stand. They are both disrespectful to each other so I pray for this little baby that is going to be born in the next 8 months. I am actually a little evey's of her. But what do you expect, I thought I was pregnant and to find out that nope not me, but her! Brings tears to my eyes but know that when the time is right for me, it will come. Thanks to all of your support. Muahzzz
