Got Prego On the Nuva Ring Posted: 10-20-05 08:01am
I've been on the nuva ring for almost 9
months now I think... A few months ago I
got my period out of nowhere and had
horrible heavy, painful bleeding. I went
to the doctor and it turns out I was
pregnant and miscarried  has this
happened to anyone else? Ive been on all
tpyes of different b.C. Off and on since
I was 15 and only the nuva ring has done
this.. Believe it or not I still am using
it, just at a different rate because it is
convenient and I hate pills... If it does
it again though im not using it again. I
called their nurse help line and the nurse
acted like she cared and for me to call
her back but she ignores my calls. She
doesnt care. Oh well.

I am really sad to hear that happened to
you. That should be reported. I have a
question. I didnt know ther were
different rates. Canyou tell me more? I
used the ring and loved it but it caused
massive hair loss.

Are you serious? My hair has been falling
out very badly, too. I didn't know it
could be the ring, I didn't think ot ask..
Hmm..
As for the rate well beforehand I did it
like everyone else, 3 weeks in, 1 week out
or whatever. Now it's in for 25 days,
then take it out but put a new one in
immediately. I do this for 3 cycles, then
I get to take it out for 5 days. It makes
it so I only get my period 4 times a year
though and to tell you the truth, despite
how convenient this method of birth
control is, having to take it like this
has really started to mess my hormones up
(hair falling out, feeling moody all the
time, etc), so I might switch to something
else.........

You haven't been using it properly. How
can you expect it to work when you're not
following instructions. That's like
taking two pills every other day instead
of everyday like you're supposed to, you
may as well have not used it. If you only
want 4 periods a year, then take
seasonale.

I am in the nursing field.. Nuva ring can
be used just like seasonale, in fact all
monophasic pills can be. Hormones can
cause hair loss in some women, it is one
of the many non deadly side effects.
