Could My Daughter Be Anorexic?
Posted: 10-23-05 20:39pm

My daughter is 15 she was once over weight but sucessfully lost 40 pounds with exersicing and dieting she is now 5'2 110 pounds and though her weight may not show that she is ber muscular and looks as if she weight like 100 but she constantly pushes her weight goal forward she thinks she has fat rolls I dont' think she does, she feels fat if she doesn't exersices every night and now becuase of a back injsury she can't. She constantly diets and doesn't eat much and is very health conscince. Could she be anorexic or on her way there?

She could be anorexic it sounds like she is obsessed wih losing weight right now. What was her injury? Could it be related to bad nutrition and is she restricting food or counting calories?

She has a back injury; right now a sprained joint and long term scar tissue build up creating pain. She play tennis too and exersices everynight she complusilvy exersices and right now becuse she can't she is going crazy I have even hid her running shoes till her physiothearpist has gave her the okay to run. She measurees her waist constantly and she never eats sweats and doesn't eat meat she is very consicence about her eating and her friends express concern to her as when she goes out with them she deosn't eat what they eat most of the time she doesn't eat when her friends do. Should I talk to her doctor about this? Or what can I do?

I think you should talk to your doctor about this before it does turn into something serious. I mean it is better to be safe than sorry you know. I wish the best for you and her. You can pm if you have any questions though. :)

Have you tried talking to her about this? Then you might need to talk to her dr about this or a psychologist. Of course I am no dr but it is very possible that she might be heading that way and may need you and some professional help.

It sounds like this is a problem because compulsively exercising and obsessing about waist measurements are signs of an eating disorder. Sometimes people think people obsessed with weight always weigh themselves but I never weighed myself I measured my waist every day every chance I got. I would say get all the information about disordered eating that you can for example symptoms like measuring a compulsively exercising. Talk to her first if you go straight to a dr then it is likely she will feel betrayed. She will probably lie but it may take time for her to realize it is a problem and who knows she might be willing to talk to a dr with you so you can all three go over her health and understand what is going on. Best of luck

That sounded like me when I was about the age of 13. I dropped 60 pounds in the course of six months and excerised non stop. My parents and coachs made me get treatment and put weight back on or I wasnt allowed to join the soccer team, volleyball or track teams again. I seriously think you should get some advice on the matter. More then what we on here can give you. Its her health that is at risk...Not worrying if she is going to hate you for the rest of her life.
