Headaches - Hidration And Regular Meals Posted: 10-31-05 11:46am
Hi lilangel.
I used to get very bad headaches when I
was at school. So bad that i'd lie in bed
and cry.
Headache pills never helped much. I
already took so many pills each day I was
really not interested in taking more.
I've had eplielpsy for about 27 years, I
am 34 now.
My headaches I think, were directly linked
to my brain activity. When activity was
high I always had headaches. Studying for
an exam, concentrating during a test,
reading a book, etc. This was also
high-risk time for me as I had many
seizures while I either studied or wrote
exams.
Following a grand mal seizure, when i'd
wake up from sleeping for 10 hours my
headaches were always 100 times worse.
I think that was because brain activity
was so unusually high during the
seizure.
I've found (by trial and error) that if I
drink lots of water, all the time, the
headaches go away. For the past 10 years
or so I always have a big bottle of water
with me wherever I go.
Now I only get headaches if I don't
hidrate every 15 minutes or when I missed
a meal.
I try to avoid missing a meal. I simply
have to eat 3 reagular meals each day,
even when i'm not hungry I eat some fruit
or yoghurt.
I'd rather eat 3 regular meals a day and
drink lots of water before I have those
headaches again.
I live in tanzania and sometimes we go to
the bush to go see some animals. Some
time ago I was with friends and we had
finished our water thinking we'd get some
in the national park. We didn;t stop at
the shop and on the way home I had a
serious-serious headache.
We stopped, I bought some water, downed
almost a litre and the headache was goine
by the time we got home about 2 hours
later.

Hi again.
Nope, i've never taken keppra or
gabapentin.
I was given convulex, lamtictin, epilim,
epanutin, phenobarb and some other stuff
when I was a kid.
this site is really good also, tells you
all about types of seizures, causes,
triggers, types of medication and how they
work.
