abortion was not illegal in america until
the "quickening", around 1850. So for all
of those who try to use america's
long-held christian-valued anti-abortion
views, well... You're wrong. Abortion
had been perfectly legal for centuries.

I think the point of this is that those
who use the bible and religion going back
thousands of years to justify their
viewpoint are on slightly thin ice, if
that religion was perfectly okay with
something a hundred years ago. Those who
use religious arguments seem to like to
imply that their view is chiselled into
stone and it has always been that way.
Eiri is just pointing out that this is not
the case.

okay well that goes with abortion...
Just because it was okay then doesnt mean
that it is written in stone that things
can or will change now.. Abortion is and
will always be okay with some and not with
others.. Just like religion is okay with
some people and some dont believe in it..
And some are very dedicted to there
beliefs..
Especially those who can not have children
always wonder why someone aborted there
baby when they could have given the baby
to them to love and cheerish... But once
again it is all a persons opinions...

Our country decided drinking was illegal
too, for a while there. And what did
that result in? Organized crime; the
mafia. Our country makes mistakes in its
legislature, and sometimes they take a
long time to fix them.
But as poopoo said, my point was that
those who use religion as their backing
are on thin ice, as it
hasn't always been that way.
Also, as for slavery: slaves were fully
grown men, women, and born, fully
developed as human children. No one owned
embryonic slaves, lol. Remember, to me a
young zef is not a fully developed human
and thus doesn't have the same rights as
even a 20 week old fetus.

ahh but if you check back you will find
that there were zef slaves as if a female
slave was pregnant then that zef belonged
to her owner.I dont disagree with abortion
just some of the reasons and none of it is
based on a religion,as you say it
sometimes takes years before they realize
it was a mistake[certain laws that is] so
you never know.I personally do not think
it should be completely illegal but it
should be brought out of the dark so
everyone knows,i know people will say it
is because of pro life that people keep it
so secretive maybe so but they should
stand up and be counted as it were and be
strong in their convictions.I as a pro
somethinger do not believe in acctivists
standing outside clinics abusing women.

True true, but I meant more the fact that
you can't make a zef work on your farm,
you have to wait until it's born.
And it's okay if your views on abortion
aren't clear-cut one way or the other,
because abortion is a very complicated
issue with a lot of grey areas and
"what-if" situations. I'm glad that
you're thinking nough about it to realise
these things.

that's true and abortion on demand has
been legal for long enough. I hope that
the gov't will get that fixed soon.

What? You actually think drinking should
be illegal? My point of that post was
that abolition was a mistake, and the fix
was to make alchohol legal again.

Alcohol is worse than pot and pot is
illegal (well kind of up here) I think
some laws are just dumb.

prescription drugs can be just as
addictive as any illegal drug. It
depends on the usage. The drug isn't
bad, the method in which it is used can
be.
trust me I know all about that. My aunts
were addicted to prescrip pills and
alcohol.

I don't drink often, but I still enjoy it
when I do. I've never smoked pot, but
that's because pot kills brain cells, and
alchohol, from what i've heard, doesn't.
Still, pot smells like skunk... Anyway,
i'm sorry you're all prudes. Go live a
little.

alcohol kills brain cells, and fries your
liver and does a lot worse things to your
body than pot. Here in mtl, you can walk
down the street (in the middle of
downtown) smoking a joint and no one says
anything, but walk with a beer in your
hand and you get stopped.

forgive me if i'm wrong but what you just
said makes me guess that your still fairly
young. Before I had my son I was the
same way. Drinking was so "fun" to me.
Once you have a child, your priorities
change, thank .God. Now I could care
less to drink. I enjoy a drink here and
there and even a night out once in a
while, but it takes no priority in my
life.
Alcohol is far worse for you than pot hun.
And it takes a beating on your body,
especially your liver. Pot does kill
brain cells but we have about a trillion
gazillion of those.
Moderation is key.
I'm not a prude damn it. (hahaha)
:o)
i drink even less than you do and I still
enjoy it. Your child, as wonderful as
he/she is, did change your prioroties and
made it so you couldn't continue doing
what you were doing before: for me, that
is getting educated. Only 25% of
.Americans even go to college, even less
graduate. Why? Well, most don't get in.
Then others marry, and have kids, can't
pay for college, and then fail out. Or
they're just dumb and they fail out (the
majority). This happened to my parents:
they got married, dropped out, and I
popped out. They are now, 21 years later,
finally getting to finish
what they started. I love being alive,
but it is also sad that they were unable
to finish their educations when they were
young.

im not a prude. I just have respect for
my body which I guess you dont... And if
you havent smoked pot then that would make
you a prude like me correct... I have my
reason why I have choosen a drug and
alcohol free life... But you did say
that you drinl alcohol so I guess that you
are loosing brain cells no wonder you go
to the clinic often

What clinic? Planned parenhood? I don't
know if I told you, but i've never even
been pregnant, thus i've never had an
abortion. Nice assumption, there.
I haven't actually ever been anything more
than tipsy at a party; being low-weight
means I don' know my limits, so I just
avoid them all together. I have respect
for my body, thus the bc pills, and also
thus why I never had sex until my current
bf, whom I love, and waited a long time
before having sex with him. Finally, I
haven't been to a party and drank since...
March I think. If not even longer.
