Q: Insurance

My husband and I want to have a baby, but we have no insurance. I was wondering if anyone knew of any insurance that wasn't really expensive and you didn't have to wait a year.

When you get matrnity insurance you have it the whole year before the pregnancy is covered it sucks. I know it is expensive I already have a 2 year old and I got medicaid with her but now we make to much I dont know. Thanks though

Not True All the Time...
It is not completely true that insurance won't cover you if you are already pregnant before getting the new insurance. My husband will be starting his new job on nov. 7 and we won't have insurance for 30 days. It has been confirmed through his company and insurance company (capital blue cross) that pregnancy will be covered.
It depends on the company and also the insurance company. Some will not cover it, but some will.

Insurance laws vary state to state. I live in texas and am licensed to sell insurance in tx and tennessee. I know individual policies do not cover maternity in tx but do in tn. Group policies in all states automatically cover maternity. Another choice you guys have is to either save money or get jobs that offer benefits. The best advice I can give you is to call around, and make sure you ask about maternity coverage. I think an inexpensive carriers are unicare and humana. But again rates vary state to state. Another company that I think is offered through the state is blue cross blue shield--at least here in tx. All state employees have that. Good luck.
