Bumps On Rectum After Period!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted: 10-26-05 09:58am

:( :( hi all,

i have lupus for a year and a half now and some strange things have been happening to me. One of the strangest so far is what has been happening when I have my period. I have noticed just on the outer part of my bottom checks they are bumps which look as if I have been burnt. They swell up and have been quite painful. They normally show up a few days after my period has ended and last for about a week. Has anyone experience this. Please please respond, I am quite concerned about it.

I refer to it as my "diaper-less" diapey rash  . I haven't paid a lot of attention as to when it pops up & mine seems to be more in the "crack" & itches like crazy. I feel your pain but am comforted that i'm not alone on this or some kind of freak!

Bumps On My Extreme Lower Back

I got 3 lumps and they were so sore that it hurt even for my clothing to touch them - the doctor @ the clinic had no reason nor could explain - they lasted about 8 days in all - it was immediately after my period!

:d thanks so much guys for replying. I felt a bit foolish posting that info but I am really happy to know that it is not just me who suffers such a thing. We never want to know that other are going through painful situation but it helps to know we are not alone. Another thing has happened it appears as if my period cycle has shorten. It used to be 28 days it is now 21 days. Thanks again for responding.

Not only do I get those nasty bumps on my...Unmentionable places, but also along the nape of my neck and inside my mouth. Some of these even end up as scars! Needless to say I am currently replacing my thongs with less revealing undergarments. :( actually, I have a funny story about this...Every time a go to a gyno they check me for herpes!!! And, as a matter of fact, I have never had an std. How embarrassing!Does anyone else have these problems as well?
On a different note, I have found some ways to help. A friend of mine decided to shave all her pubic hair to eliminate the moisture factor, and that has helped her immensely. I would recommend using a clean razor with every shave because those of us with lupus are extremely succeptable to infection. It's expensive, but worth it. A way I have helped with the problem...I try to carry lysol ( the aerosol/kills everything kind) to spray down every toilet I encounter! Yeah, I feel stupid doing this, but since the bumps can be caused by a weak immune system and staff, it helps!
And with the period, maybe they are more prevalent during this time because, again, the moisture factor allows bump-causing stuff to just kinda hang out around there. I know that sounds nasty, but I use a tampon, and I don't really notice more bumps during menstruation. I wouldn't recommend tampons if your lupus causes a reaction to them. I just recently can only be around certain kinds of fabrics, myself, so I would caution tampon use for some.
Most of all, whether we find a way to eliminate this discusting things or not, it is nice not being alone!

Everyone's symptoms sound a lot like shingles - very painful rash/bumbs that are sometimes brought on by stress (if you have the dormant virus leftover from chickenpox) or hormonal changes. I had shingles prior to my lupus dx and learned later that they're related (yet another autoimmune ailment). Your doctor can help - valtrex will clear them up.

Good luck!
