Hello, I am a teen and in health class we
are learning about aids and I have a
question. Well I am a teen fighting
leukemia so I no quiet a bit of stuff. I
have a question if they have tried these
things to try and cure aids. Well why
wont a bone marrow transplant work? I
mean when you kill the marrow and put new
marrow in then you are givin a whole new
immune system pretty much....That is the
first question. Another is what about
chemo. I no that aids kills cells, and
can chemo kill aids in the blood. And
last question is there is a thing, I dont
no what it is called but it is where you
take your blood out and put new blood in.
Well those are three things I have been
wondering if either of them could work to
cure aids. They are just questions, and I
would really like if someone could answer
my questions. Thanks alot, gob bless!!

No, honey, unfortunately those things will
not work. Blood transfusion is what you
were talking about. They cannot take all
of the blood out of your body and put new
blood in. (i don't think) but even if
they could, the virus would already be in
your organs. Even if the bone marrow
thing would help, which I don't see how it
could, hiv would just ruin the immune
system once again. I don't know about
chemo, but I think if it would work, then
they would be doing it! But hopefully
they will come up with a cure soon. Hope
this helped at least a little bit.
