Need Advice On Girl's Name
Posted: 10-29-05 09:20am

If you saw the name alenah, how would you pronounce it.

I'd like it to be pronounced a-len-ah...Like it sounds. Not with a long e. But am worried that people not might pronounce it correctly when they see it.

What do you think? Do you like the name?

Thanks for any advice.

My neice's name is alaina. Pronounced the same way. I love that name and I like your spelling. I thought (a - lay- na) when I saw it. I know a girl named alena (a - leeee - na) and ppl pronounce it the other way. People will just have to get used to it and there is always someone that will probably mis-pronounce it.

I work with a girl named chanda (shan-duh) and people call her sandra, shannon, chandra, etc. No matter how much we pound it into their heads they still cant get it right.

I would say aleena, sorry too.

I have the problem with my daughter raquel, people say rochelle, or rachel. But that is what people do.

My hubby likes the name charis, (pronounced care-us) but I am not sure, maybe another spelling like carys or karis?? Any thoughts on that one?
