I Have Not Eaten In 36 Hours And Was Not Given Any Pain Med. Posted: 10-29-05 13:42pm
Ever since I was little I had reoccuring
problems with my throat being infected.
In recent years i've only had this type of
sickness only once or twice a year. Now
just 3 days ago I had a sore throat, since
yesterday morning it has become extremely
painful. My whole left side of my
tonsils are swollen and giving out puss.
Thus causing my neck, ear, and head pain
as well. I am a 25 year old male and
just transfering jobs... I have no
insurance till about 8 months from now.
I have been taking 2 200mg advils every 4
hours and the effect of them is greatly
reducing. So I went to the doctor and
she prescribed me augmentin. I am also
positive for strep throat. From past
experience the augmentin may be
ineffective, at one point in time I had to
see an ear nose and throat specialist and
was on other things to kill the strep.
What really angers me off is that I was
not prescribed any pain medication.
Previous doctors have given me medication
for pain even with just a sore throat.
This doctor says that I should take 4mg of
advil every 6hours (less than I was
taking!), and hope the antibiotic works.
I cannot eat. Its swollen and hurts so
bad that I can hear the restricted airflow
down my throat. I can't really afford a
second opinion but I will seek one if I
might litterally jeapordize my health by
not eating. Why do people get prescribed
pain medication for other things but when
it comes to pain preventing me from
injesting food, I am not prescribed it.
I have tylonal with codeine but there are
random drug tests at my job so I cannot
take them cause I will show up positive
and I will not have a doctors note.
Please help!!! Thankyou -ray

hydrogen peroxide, apple cider vineger(i
read somewhere that it works). All to no
avail.
