Rh Factor

The last time I went to the doctor which
was maybe a week ago, my blood results
were back and he told me I had an rh
negative factor because my blood was o-, I
was just wondering if anybody else went
through getting the shots and stuff and
how it ended up.

Hey hun im rh- n ive had my shot
allready...Its nothing really u get it
close to 28 weeks n it gets injected to ur
butt lol but it doesnt hurt it feels like
a little pinch n doesnt take more then
like 1 minute...Its really nothing I might
have to get another after I have my son if
he has a + blood type....The shot is
called rogam it just protects u and the
baby pretty much...But everything is well
n no problems...=-) sry if I wasnt much
help hunnie... Ill ttyl

I also have the rh factor. Like
loneytearz said it's just a shot......Make
sure you get it otherwise it can cause
problems for you, and if you conceive
again, the baby.
You will get the shot at around 28
weeks(or if you have any complications or
bleeding before), as well if your child
has the fathers blood type after he/she is
born in the hospital.
If i'm correct they give you a choice
where they inject it, either near your hip
or your stomach.

Michelle... They didnt give me a choice
they said that they allways give it to u
in ur bum becuz its the most fatty part of
ur body n keeps the vacine in ur body
longer...Idk I could but wrong but I know
I had to get it in my bum...Lol very
embarssing but its to keep my next child n
this one safe...

i don't know why I said hip and
stomach...I think I got distracted....
Lol....I had it in my bum too!
I was given the option of either my butt
or my arm.....I was really distracted
:lol:
i looked it up and it's injected mostly in
a muscle...Sometimes in a vein.

Hey my blood type was a negative ( only
15% of white ppl have it). And husband's
was o positive (very common). So at that
I had to get the shots. I recieved the
first one I think around 5 months and the
other one the day before I left the
hospital. They were both injected into
my right hip right above my butt the shot
liquid was cold so it kind of burns when
it's being injected. The spot where it
was put in was a little sore for a few
days but nothing real painful.

i'm not sure if you know this, but I
thought i'd tell you.... If you receive
the second shot after you have your baby
that tells you that your child has the
fathers blood type. If the baby has the
mothers blood type you don't get the shot
after you deliver.

Thank you guys
next time I go to the doctor ill be around
28 weeks and thats when they're going to
give it to me but my doctor said that it
would be given in my arm. I was just
wondering if this eliminates all the risks
of my blood and her blood crossing paths?

Does every pregnant woman get tested for
this rh factor? I've been hearing about
all this stuff you have to get tested for
and I haven't been to a doctor or anything
yet. I'm getting more scared than I was
already. Is this something I should worry
about? And is it something that I can go
without getting tested for? What other
stuff do girls usually get tested for?

Ariella the rh factor is a blood type it
is actually rh- when u go to the doctors
they test ur blood to see wha blood type u
are n if u are rh- u have to get a shot of
rogam in your bum at appoximitly 28 weeks
n then again after the baby is born if the
baby has a - blood type

don't know what my blood type is, but i've
probably passed 28 weeks already and
haven't seen a doctor or anything yet.

How come u havnt been to the doc. Yet???
U should really get to one u have allready
missed soo many test n everything to make
sure the baby is ok....The shot of rogam
is to protect the baby from ne unwanted
infections n things....How old are u
hun?...U should really get to the doctors
though...I dont mean to preach but im 17 n
im now 37weeks6days today....I got lucky
my baby is healthy I waited till I was 4
months to go to the doctor but for the
sake of u and the baby u should go....

Nothing will happen with the first baby
but if you have another one it is possible
that your immune system with attack the
baby making both of you very sick. What
is your blood type the more common it is
the less of a chance you'll have the rh
factor.

I don't know my blood type and I haven't
been to the doctor yet because I don't
want anyone to know i'm pregnant. I'm
about 5 or 6 months pregnant now and no
one else knows. I can't afford to go to a
doctor and I have no idea where the
nearest planned parenthood clinic is. My
parents can never know about this baby. I
was planning to give birth on my own and
then take the baby to a safe house or
something. Do you think i'll be okay
without the shots and stuff? And more
importantly, will the baby be okay? Even
though I can't keep it, I want it to be
healthy for whatever family it happens to
fall into.

Yes it will probably be okay. But sweetie
do you realize that this is going to
affect the rest of your life, carrying
around this sercert? Do you have a health
department around? You said that you
can't afford medical care. There is such
a program for pregnant women called
maternity medicaid. It provides you cost
free health care for your pregnancy and
one year of health care for the baby once
it is born. If there is a health
department of clinic around they will have
it. I don't want to scare you but stress
the impotance of going to the doctor.
There are some things that can go really
go wrong like having preclamsia which is
where the mother has high blood pressure
from the baby and it causing her to have
seizers when not detected early enough and
can cause death in the fetus and mother.
Again i'm not trying to scare you just
letting you know the importance of regular
prenantal checkups. Good luck..

I don't think there's any place like that
around my town. It's so small that
there's really nothing in it at all. The
nearest medical facility is a hospital,
but I can't go there because I don't have
money. Plus, I would need parental
consent and I can't let my parents know
that i'm pregnant.

Hospital and clinics and places like that,
are by law not able to contact parents
about anything of this nature dealing with
their child the only way the will get a
hold of your parents is if you want them
to. I live in a small town also so I went
to another town that had a health
department. But my boyfriend at the time
was able to take me. I understand that
this has to be extra hard for you. And if

The maternity medicaid that I was talking
about is free healthcare for you while you
are pregnant. So there will be no
hospital bills to pay. Do you think you
will be able to handled childbirth by
yourself? Honey it hurts and I had an
epidural and it was still hard. My son
was facing up , babies are supposed to be
face down so I was having trouble.
Finally the doctor had to use forcepts to
get him out. What if something like that
happens with you? I am by no means trying
to tell you what to do because that is
your choice. Where do you live? You can

information to you about the laws in your
state.

I know it's going to hurt. But I deserve
it, i'm sure. I don't know where or when
or how, but i'm going to have to deliver
this baby by myself. I know people have
done it before. If you find out about the
laws in my state though, let me know.
Maybe I can at least go to a shelter
somewhere to give birth. I honestly don't
know where i'm going to have this baby,
but I don't really have to worry about
that for 3 or 4 more months, so i'm okay
right now. I don't think the baby's going
to be too big either. That should help,
right?
