What Ever Happened to Cooties???
Posted: 11-02-05 19:47pm

Not sure how to handle this......My six year old son came up to me today and asked if he could write a letter to his girlfriend...Yes I said girlfriend(read my heading again), because he is too shy to tell her he loves her. I was completely dumbfound
after I picked my mouth up off the ground I told him I will speak with him tomorrow....

How would any mothers out there deal with this...What would you say to him?

it's so strange, I asked about his gf when he first told me about her(a week ago). He even pointed her out to me at school.
I asked him why does he feel he needs a gf now, and he said because she already had a bf(???) and because she is cute! I was so caught off guard

i guess I should let him write his letter.....

I remember when I was that age...(imagine that) and there were 2 girls and 2 boys in our class that were boyfriend/girlfriend and every week they'd trade. We saw the older kids doing that and wanted to be cool so we had girlfriends and boyfriends because that's what grown-ups did. Nothing really, just the i'll sit by you at lunch and stuff, then to be dramatic they'd break up for a day and make a big huge make up thing. No mushy stuff, just for fun. We even had weddings on the playground at recess, pastor and all! It's just kids wanting to be cool in the sight of those big kids probably.

Poor little guy.....I'm 21 but my class had only 17 kids in it, so I can remember alot because they went to school with me until I graduated, and i'm still friends with those kids. Only one of them had babies, which happened before we graduated, but he's doing well, married the girl and is a great daddy. The other ones are in college or working somewhere and not married yet, or even dating for that matter. :d

your little boy sounds so sweet.

he's so sensitive....Which is a great quality at times, but annoying at others.

I haven't heard anything new yet...He's still at school. I really hope he's ok. He's going to need more hugs today, I just know it! :d
