i am wondering whether anyone can advise
me on this - I have recurrent acute
pancreatitis and I need to find out what
the risk/chances are that I will be
running if we decide to start a family.
At the moment it's idiopathic - they can't
find out what's causing it. I've had this
a long time, and it's not anything obvious
like alcohol, gallstones, etc, although I
do have pancreas divisum, a divided
pancreas.
I have found articles about the general
increased risk of getting pancreatitis
during pregnancy - does this mean i'm
particularly at risk because I already
have it? What are the chances of geting
through it without getting diabetes? Is
the baby at increased risk? Am i?
I live in the uk, and am going up to the
hereditary pancreatitis guys in liverpool
to talk to them, but there must be someone
out there who's gne through this, or can
advise. I'd be really greateful for any
help you can give.
