My doc says I am in perimenapause. I've
read that hormone therapy is not a
possibility for women with sle. I don't
desire to go this route anyway, but am
eager for other options. Taking black
cohosh, flax oil and vitamins. Also have
hypothyroidism and fibro so they don't
help a great deal. It's hard to know what
is causing what, so I basically just deal
with what's happening at the time. My doc
just put me on bp meds and am having some
tachycardia episodes with this, but I hope
it balances out as I simply don't have the
strength to deal with anything else. Son
has multiple disabilities and is now
developing aspiration pneumonia,so we are
not sure how long we will have him.
Stress is very high and everytime I start
exercising to help with relieving some
this I seem to start having energy
problems. Thanks for listening, tammydee

Hi tammydee
i think I am going through the m word
also. I am not sure if its for sure but
when I told my mom about the continuous
period thing she beleives that I am
starting to go through that change in
life. It does not seem to end. I guess
because its so new and I am not sure what
to do expect. I am convinced that the
meds that I have been on for lupus has
caused an early effect on my health.
Rheumy said that the meds would not have
an effect, but I beg to differ. I have
moved to europe and I would be seeing an
internalist in january. But it takes a
long time to see a specialist here.
I was diagnosised with lupus sle about
five years ago ( I am 39 now) , currently
I am on placquenil, imuran and prednisone
my goal right now is to get ween off the
prednisone(currently taking 10mg) as it
has started to affect my bones ( yep, I
did my yearly bone density test and it
seems to be decreasing).... I dont need
another problem to deal with. The
herbals that you are taking what is it
for? Can anyone advise what we lupies
should be taking when we hit this stage in
our life. I am telling you it sucks big
time

Lupinlendie,
know how you feel!Kid! I'm 46 and was
diagnosed at age 36. It hasn't all been
bad,but I am stubborn. I refuse anymore
steroids, due to the side effects and the
fact that they never really helped me and
just caused me to gain more wieght. I
take black cohosh, flax seed oil, coral
calcium, vit.E(recommended by my heart
doc),muli-vitamin as well as my thyroid
med,b/pmed,plaquenil, and lortab and
valium as needed. I also take a
perimenopausal formula I found at my
health food store. It seems to help. I
believe we have to take the docs
recommendation and our own research and
find what works best for each of us. Hang
in there, and research, but don't let some
of these health web sites sell you things
as a quick fix, I think we each have to be
responsible for our own health and not
search for the quick fix. But, that's
just my opinion. Good luck,tammydee

I had to have a hysterectomy back in 1985.
I remember it started when we went to an
amusement park. It was really a
scorching day and I had my period. I was
really sensitive to the sun and my period
got really heavy. I had alot of pain and
my gynecologist said I had an elevated sed
rate. The diagnosis was endometritis.
A couple of months later I had the
hysterectomy but still have my ovaries.
I am going to be 49 on dec. 9 and am
wondering what the symtoms would be for
menopause since I don't have my uterus
anymore. I know, of course, hot flashes
and crying easily (which I do anyway
because I lost my sister on october 25).
