ortho tri-cyclen lo , overweight Posted: 11-04-05 11:31am
I looked all throughout the topics
beforehand and didn't find one concerning
this, so here we go. My doctor put me on
ortho tri-cyclen lo and i've been on it
for a few days now. A friend of mine is
also on the pill, given by the health
department, but she liked my pill better
(honestly I think it's because my compact
is "cooler" but that's just her... We
wont bother getting into that). So she
went to our local health department, not
the same one she went to before since
we're at college rather than home now, and
they put her on the regular ortho
tri-cyclen because they said you shouldn't
take the lo is you're over 150lbs. Is
this true? I'm going to need to go to
this health department later as well since
I can't afford to buy the pill myself,
should I ask them about it? I've asked a
few of my nursing friends and a retired
nurse, all say there is only a weight
limit on the patch, not on pills. Is
there anything I should be worried about
since I am over 150lbs? Just making sure.
Thanks

I got curious and found this that can
help, it is a reading about several
studies done and include your question and
especifically the pill you are using:
http://www.Npwh.Org/c
ontraceptive-failure/
but in general I didn't find that that
pill has a problem with weight, apparently
in general the overweight should be
consider in low doses birth control pills
but is not a fact apparently. Probably I
am wrong but I think your Dr. Should know
better what aspects should be in
consideration.
