35 Weeks And Nervous!

I am 35 weeks and very nervous. Can anyone tell me in detail, what contractions feel like and what it feels like when your water breaks? I would really appreciate it! :)

Contractions And Water Breaking
Posted: 11-04-05 13:32pm

Hi, I am 34 weeks with my second, now, everyone has different contractions. You can feel them in different parts of your tummy too. My b/h are in my lower tummy and come up my sides. The other night I was having contractions that started in my back, went up between my legs and then up my tummy. Your tummy just gets really hard and the first of the contractions to me kinda feel like really bad cramping. Now with my first my water broke in the middle of the night. I was dead asleep and I heard a loud pop and woke up to fluid running all over the place. It took me a second at first I thought I peed then I realized my water broke. Just keep in mind that every woman is different, you could have it totally different from me or any one else you talk to. So when is your actual due date? Please keep me informed as to when you have the baby.

Hi but_r_fly8!

Thanks for the info- it gives me some insight. I've heard that some women, when their water breaks, there's a loud pop. That's interesting. You're having braxton hicks already? My stomach will get hard every now and then, but I think it's the baby shifting- could I be wrong? I do experience period like cramps as well. *sigh* lol
my due date is december 8. I'm really scared about the delivery. I know women have been giving birth for the longest time, but when you go through it for the first time, it's sooo scary.

I Know. . .
Posted: 11-04-05 18:12pm

I was scared when I was pregnant with my first one but I think I am more scared with this one. I was 38 wks when I had my girl and it was all so sudden. I wasn't expecting my water to break like that. So before I knew it I was in the hospital having a baby. With this one I am so nervous. I know what to expect and I hate pain. All I have to say is thank god for epidurals!!!! I hit 4 cm and said epidural please!!! I have been having b/h for about a month or more. You have them all the way through your pregnancy but in your first you don't notice them as much. The way I tell if they are b/h or moving is by feeling all over my stomach. If he is just moving only the top half will be hard or the lower half. But when it is a contraction it is everywhere. Even where you don't think the baby is. Oh. . When my water broke I thought of it as someone popping a balloon in the same room as me. It was really weird. But I am glad I heard it b/c if I hadn't I would of thought I just wet the bed. Hehe I am happy to help in any way I can. . . I may not know it all but it is always nice to talk to someone else about it.

Hi but_r_fly 8,
thanks for getting back to me. That's funny about how your water broke and it sounded like a balloon popping! I fear that I will not know as well!! Was it a lot of liquid? My husband keeps telling me to sit on a towel when i'm on the couch- just in case- I tell him to be quiet- lol!!
I know, thank goodness for epidurals, my s-i-l, she was too far along when she went in and couldn't have one. She said it hurt, but she was very lucky, bc she only pushed for two hours and it was her first. Thank you for sharing your experience with me! Good luck with this pregnancy!

Hi ctrule,
i love sharing pregnancy stories. And right now it is really helping my time go by. When my water broke it was a lot of fluid. And then when you walk around it squishes out. Kinda gross. I wore a pad until I got to the hospital and sat on a towel in the car. My husband is affraid my water is going to break in bed again and this time he is going to be in it. He wants to put rubber sheets on the bed and he says he will be happy to sleep in our daughters room for a while. I just smile and say you get to enhoy all of it as much as I do. I was very lucky when it came time to push. I only pushed for 12 minutes. And out she popped. I am one of the lucky few. I am worried now that since this one is a boy he is going to be huge and it take hours. But only time will tell. Well, good luck to you!!!!!

Hi but_r_fly8,

that's hilarious about your husband being afraid of your water breaking while in bed together! I like the whole rubber sheet thing. Lol. Please, if that's all men have to endure, they're very lucky, right?! I sleep in my baby's room every so often because I toss and turn a lot at night, and I feel bad since my husband has to work the next day. I take it you're not working outside the home right now since you said sharing your experiences help time go by. I am in the same boat as you then. I haven't worked since my fourth month.

Wow, you are lucky that you pushed for only 12 minutes! Yes, you're definitely one of the lucky few esp. With it being your first. Yesterday at the Dr.'s appt., my Dr. Was feeling my tummy to figure out what position the baby is in, well, she couldn't tell for sure bc my tummy was hard all over, but she said this might be a big baby! I am soo terrified, but_r_fly8!! I was only 5 lbs and some odd oz, but my husband was a whopping 8 lbs 10 oz!! And he had a big 'ol head at birth! He has an older brother who was born at 7 lbs 6 oz. But his brother is a good 4 inches taller.

You know what's funny, ever since you told me about your water breaking and it sounding like a balloon, i'm expecting that if my water breaks on its own, i'm gonna hear a huge *pop*! Lol. That's interesting about it continuing to gush- I thought once it broke, that was it.

Well, keep me informed!

Hi Ladies....im @ 35wks Too
Posted: 11-30-05 16:10pm

Hello ladies,
i just wanted to jump in the conversation if I could....

I was reading all your posts and its all the things I was wondering about. Im afraid my water will break and I wont know it. A lady told me she didnt have the big gush...It was a light water break...Infact when she went to the doc because she thought it was just leaking...They told her she was ready to have the baby...Her water had been broke for 12hrs already. Yikes!! @least with the big gush you know your water broke...And hearing it is kinda good too. I mean the fear of being out in public and a gush could be embarrassing but hey its a win lose situation huh. Lol

i was also wondering what the contractions would feel like so your response on that was good for me to read.

When your baby "dropped" did you feel it? My sil said when she was going pee she literally felt a drop :blump: I was wondering if anyone else excperienced that.

Well thanks for all the great read. I wish you both the best in your pregnancies.

Hope I didnt break yalls flow if conversation.

Sheena, you didn't interupt anything. I am happy that our little talk could bring you some answers. I am now 38 wks and just about to die. All day yesterday I was having contractions and same with today. I am just waiting for them to get more frequent and stronger and I am on my way.

With my first I think I dropped over time. And with this one I started caring very high and at about 28 wks he decided to move down some. At my last appointment his head was pushing on my cervix but could still be moved a little. Yesterday he started getting lower. Walking is sucha stuggle, but that is what helps the contractions.

I have known many people who just get a leak in their bag of water. But in my oppinion I think I would notice something leaking from me if I wasn't peeing. I may think I was peeing my pants but I would think you would notice a slow trickle of fluid. You know they say that only 15% of woman have their water break naturally? I think it should break in every woman that way we know if we are really in labor. We go through so much false stuff who can ever tall what is really going on.

Well, good luck to you. Let me know how things work out for you.
