Q: Hands And Feet Swelling

I am thirty eight years old and having my third child. I am 28 weeks pregnant and I feel like my skin is so tight in my fingers and feet. I've also noticed my legs have a reddish color to them. When I push on them a white circle appears. Is there anything I could do to help the swelling go down? Any advice? Thank you

We have the same problem (just started last week) and I am on my 30th week. Swelling hands are very common during mornings and subsides later afternoon. For swelling hands, you may put them in cold water; a bit of hand exercise should reduce swelling. Also remove tight jewelries ie., engagement & wedding rings, watch, etc. In order not to block blood circulation. Standing or walking and sitting for too long is one of the causes of feet/lower leg swelling. Putting it up for 30 to an hour should minimise it and a regular leg exercise (ante-natal designed exercise) should also help. Goodluck.

I had awfull swelling near the end of my preg. Raise your legs while sleeping or sitting, eat less salty food, go to an indoor pool (or outdoor if it's warm) and swim. And something that helped me at night was to wrap ace bandages around my feet and ankles and then putting on a pair of tight-ish socks.

You may even notice what's making you swell. When I was pregnant with my first, my fingers would swell up everytime I would eat ketchup chips(only ketchup chips).... But that's what I was craving.
