18 Week Miscarriage With Twins Posted: 11-07-05 14:51pm
My question is simply, I had a colposcopy
done at 14 weeks with no biopsy just the
vinegar/water solution on my cervix can
this cause thinning of the cervix to the
point of "spontanious abortion"? I am
not getting clear answers. I did not
have any problems until two weeks after
the colposcopy then spotted, one week
later began bleeding with a mucus
discharge and then 2 ultrasounds with
twins doing normal activity, and lost them
2 days later with both having 140-155
heartrates right up to birth. Is this
just bad luck or did this procedure cause
this to happen with no action taken by my
doctors?

I am not really sure about that, but I am
sure if you did some reaserch you could
find something.....
I know when I was pregnant with twins I
had an u/s done and they were all fine and
then after almost getting in a car wreck
(almost fliping) and my husbands
grandmother dying then the twins were
dead, but my I didn't have any signs of me
having a misscarriage I was supposue to be
15 weeks but the babys died at 10 weeks so
he thought that was weird. But I think
it was b/c of all the stress, but with me
not showing any signs of a misscarriage is
still what gets me......Ok I know I went
off subject....Sorry

It cud be the procudures that you had
done, all that stress cud have caused you
to lose them.
But apart from that studies have shown
that most women who have first time
multiple pregnancies usually do miscarry.
I don't really know why.
I was pregnant witha twin last december
and I lost them too ant 11 weeks, and I
was so busy planning my daughter's 10
b'day party and just stressing the whole
damn day making sure that all was going
well, just basically running up and down.
I was out of bed from 4:30 that morning
and never lied down again until 10 that
night. Iplayed every game at the party.
When I took my shower I saw this brownish
discharge. I knew something had to be
wrong becuz I wasn't there the day before
or early that morning. I had an ultrascan
the next day and they weer fine, went back
the following week and they were dead.
I just think that our bodes react to
stress and carryin two babies has to be
more of a strain on our bodies than one
and if they share the same sac or the same
cord, as in my case, chances are that if
one is affected it will surely take the
other one with it.

!St of all I am very sorry to here about
all of your losses(sp). Having a
colposcopy, an auto accident and your
grandmas death and mommie dearest
situation is not good both physically and
mentally is too much stress. Please do
not blame yourself! It is not your fault!
Things happen that we have no control
of! The man above is taking care of
them. I too had miscarriages and I knew
I had to move on and I did and had two
wonderful children, both grown now.

usually after 12 weeks most "common"
reasons for miscarriage have already
passed. So viable pregnancy is in much
higher percentile by 18 weeks. I believe
it could have been the reason. Maybe you
could get another opinion from Dr.
I was so pissed when they did the same
thing to my daughter--while pregnant, but
did do the biopsy --after telling us they
wouldnt. I thought baby could die, thank
god she didnt.
I would also talk to a lawyer about it if
you believe there is negligence with the
Dr.
I am so sorry for your losses--no one
deserves to go thru that. May god bring
joy where sorrow has lived. Bless you
honey
