About the Possibility of Blood Test Being Wrong
Posted: 11-07-05 22:29pm

I've been late for 3 days now. The only time i've been late before was when I was pregnant with my baby girl. So I used a test I had at home and it came back positive. Because it was a sunday and no lab was open, I decided to buy another home test, just to be sure. This time I bought another brand that came with 2 tests. I took one and it was positive too. Both tests that I used are over 99% accurate. This morning (monday) I went to the lab to get the blood one done and it came negative. I was very surprised. My menstruation is not here still and I took the other one (with my husband in the room with me to make sure I was doing it right) and it's still coming out positive. I dont know what to think. I've taken many tests before and never had any problem. How can 2 different brands be telling the same thing, yet the blood thest says another? Im so lost here.

I know that topic similar to this have been discussed here, but I still wanted to share my story and see if something similar have happened to any of you. Or if maybe you know something about it.....Just something.

Thanks in advance

wow. That is just wierd. I can't imagine a blood test being wrong. But you keep getting positives. Hun, the only thing I can suspect is that they gave you the results for someone else. There is no way your going to get several +'s and a negative blood test, especially since the blood tests are so reliable. I would look into this one hun.....Get a blood test somewhere else, at the very least!

Keep us posted.....

Thanks a lot. As it turs out, I really am pregnant. I waited a few days, went to another lab and this time it was a positive. Weird things that happen in this world. I always thought the blood thest were 100% accurate.

Hi I am new here. I am at day 35 in my 28 day cycle. I am very nauseated, having headaches, have more than usual discharge (not itchy, burning, or smelly, just normal, but more than normal), having to urinate really often, I have taken 3 tests one had a very faint 2nd line, I had a blood test yesterday and they said it was negative, but they were very busy and seemed very rushed. I am concerned that the test is wrong. In my first pregnancy I had hyperemesis gravidarium, it was very bad and I am having a similar nausea now for the past 2 weeks. I am not sure what I should do, should I go for a 2nd blood test? Or should I wait awhile longer and see if my period eventually shows up? I live in a very small town and I don't want to bother my doctors office if I am not pregnant, is there any other way to get a blood test than by going to my normal doctors office? Are there clinics or labs that do testing on a walk in basis or anything like that? Any input would be great. Thanks

Maybe you should wait a day or two & retest. Even if a line is faint, it is still considered to be positive. And using first morning urine does help.
Either way keep us posted & best of luck to you!
