Hsg

Hi, I had to have 2 hsg's when I started my infertility work-up. It's not the most enjoyable thing, especially if you have cervical stenosis, which I have. You might want to talk to your doctor about prescribing you a mild anti-inflammatory. I was given motrin and darvocet. The procedure is uncomfortable. It will feel like very severe menstrual cramping. The radiologist had a hard time inserting the catheter because I had a huge fibroid/polyp that was blocking my right ovary, which is considered the stronger of my ovaries because of the way my cervix is tilted. I had surgery to remove them. When they initially found the fibroids/polyp's I had to have a pelvic ulstrasound and another hsg but this time instead of x-rays they used ultrasound. I was recently placed on clomid since I still haven't conceived. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions...

P.S. If your partner wants to hold your hand trust me it helps to have them in there, but make sure that they have a good breakfast and don't get faint at the sight of blood becuase it can be a little bloody...My husband almost did a face stand and had to leave the room to get some air...I still tease him about it....

i am not a 100 percent sure but if one is blocked you still can get pregnant fom the other one.... you switch sides every other month... mine a are not blocked but i did have scar tissue, and i had a lap. done to get rid of it... and what ever else needed to be done while they were in there... it took a long time to get to where i am almost 3 and half years. and now finally i might have a chance... hang in there and my dad always told me you have to lead a horse to water... which means you have push. insist, it's hard an frustrating i know.... good luck....

i forgot to tell you that in some intenses you can become pregnant through a hsg because now the use an oil base dye which is more concentrated they the water based dye, if they are by chanced blocked the dye can try and push through the tubes allowing them to open. and they say that the percentage rate of pregnancy are higher now....

Back in 2000 my husband and i started ttc a second child. After a year of .v.e.r.y irregular(maybe 2 or 3) periods and no positive results i consulted with my gyn. We did many test. The last of them was the hsg. Through this we found that both of my tubes were blocked, one more heavily than the other.

a week later we conceived our second son.

Since then i have had 2 other pregnancies Smile

Good luck sweetie!
