Q: Got a Question!!

I am 35 weeks pregnant with my second and I went to my regular appointment on wed. I was 34 weeks at the time and he went ahead and checked me. I am 2cm dilated and starting to thin. Is it normal to be this far from my due date and already dilating? All my doc said was that he would be coming in a resonable amout of time. Well what in the heck is a resonable amount of time?! With my first my water broke at 38 wks and I never was checked until my water broke. If anyone has any pearls of wisdom please share. Thanks!!!

I have not heard of a dr checking so early. They usually start checking around week 37 - sometimes sooner if he has reason. But if things are already changing & you're only 35 weeks, than you might want to take it easy. If your baby was born now, he/she would probably be fine although his/her respiratory system might not be fully ready ( they give meds to baby if this were to happen). If you could make it to @ least 37-38 weeks, that would be great! I wish you a happy & painfree delivery:) keep us posted! Hollie

I am just wondering though if it is normal to be dilating this early and does anyone have an estamate as to when I could deliver? Could I go to term? ( i'm kinda hoping not) I just am not sure how concerned to be. And how easy should I take it. I have a two year old how easy can I take it?!

I have heard of women being dilated sooner than they should. Alot of times though it's no big deal. Sometimes they don't go into labor for a few weeks later. If there was any cause for concern though, i'm sure your dr would tell you - especially if there were any precautions/restrictions for you to follow. And I know having a little one running around when you're ready to burst is not easy. I've been there before. Good luck & keep us posted!! Hollie
