a Question On Comas And Resulting Effects Posted: 11-16-05 14:10pm
I apologize if this is not the proper
place to ask this.
I am a writer, and I am currently writing
a story for which I have a couple of
medical questions.
The character in my story was put into a
coma as a result of severe cranial injury,
and has been in a coma for 6 months when
she wakes up. She has had no problems
breathing on her own, but what would she
be hooked up to in a case this long? As
well, what symptoms would/could she be
suffering from after this amount of time,
both mentally and physically?
I'd like to thank you in adavnce for any
information anyone can provide.

Hello! I am not a professional, but from
movies i've seen and articles i've read,
the patient is hooked up to and
intravenous for food. I also know that
they must have sustained some sort of
brain trauma (what kind, I don't know for
sure but maybe hit by a car or
something?). As well, I think that they
have stats being read to make sure they
are breathing and they're heart rate is
normal. Let me know what happens,
okay?
