Q: Back Surgery

My 80-year old mother is scheduled to have labroscopic back surgery in two weeks to help alleviate excruciating lower back pain due to spinal stenosis. I am curious to hear from others who are or who know people in their late 70's/early 80's that have had this surgery. . .How long was the recovery?? How much of an improvement occurred?? Would they recommend this surgery to others. . .Etc.
