Questions About Hbv
Posted: 11-17-05 02:00am

Hello, could anybody help with the following questions?

A) is it safe for hbv carriers to soak in hot spring?
Is it harmful to the liver due to the high temperature of the hot spring
which could make one thirsty?

B) is it okay for hbv carriers to swim or soak in hot spring with other
people? Would the virus infect others through swimming or soaking
together?

C) a specific example:
a hbv carrier washes clothes which have his/her blood on it
in the face-washing sink/bath tub. Without sterilising
with bleaches/alcohol, could one get infected by using the bath
tub/sink?
(the sink/tub was used normally, it's not like it's blood everywhere....)

how persistent is the hepatitis b virus' spreading ability in the above
condition? Would it be too weak that infection is not possible at all?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Nothing to Worry

There are three common pathways for a hep b virus to spread
1) vertical transmisson : mother to child
2) intravenous drugs users ; drug addicts
3) sexual contact
4) blood transfussion

so, you do not have to worry about taking a bath in a hot spring with a person with hep b. It needs blood to spread.
