17 Weeks Prego And Needs Help W/ My 5 Year Old Daughter:( Posted: 11-17-05 16:17pm
Hi everyone im on my 17th week of my 3rd
pregnancy which is going smoothly:d
anyway I need advise regarding my 5 year
old child because I cant get enough sleep
and have been dealing with bundles of
dirty linen for about 2 weeks straight now
coz she doesnt stop weeing the bed, I
believe we've (me and hubby) tried
everything that we possibly could to
prevent this but still she ends up having
this "midnight shower".
Here are sum stuffs that we tried:
---getting her up every 3 hours and taking
her to toilet (which is next to her room)
---giving her a warm shower before bed
---the nurse advised me not to give her
any drinks 2 hours before bed time
---we lessened the fizzy drink intake
---told her off
---spoke to her gently about her weeing
---our last resort was placing a nappy on
her during bedtime but we dont really want
her to get used to it plus she's a bit
embarassed about it which I dont want to
lead to insecurity in the future
---she's gonna have a routine urine test
just to check if there's any glucose or
protein content (i know its gonna be
normal anyway) coz she doesnt complain
about pain on weeing or anything like
that
---we also tried bribing her with treats
and stuffs if she doesnt wee on the bed
we did all of this and still not a single
tactic took effect
im a bit stressed about this as I cant do
anymore household chores because of too
much laundry (i dunno wot will I do if
washing machine wasnt invented) and I
always have to check on her during bedtime
just to check if she's dry as we dont want
her to be drenched of wee.
Our radiators is covered with wet linen
and towels as I have to make sure there is
stock in her room(we gotta change the bed
mattress as its starting to smell) thats
properly dried.
Anyone of you whose been on my situation
please let me know what you did to resolve
the problem thanks!

Hey anna,
my brother had an overactive bladder
till he was 10 its somewhat normal but can
be treated if thats what she ends up
having, I havent potty trained mine yet so
I cant really give any home to heart
advice.
If I remeber correctly all my mom did was
place a shower curtain on anthonys bed
underneath fitted sheets, I know its not
comfortable but at least it saves the
mattress. As for laundry see if you
can get a hired hand, because of my
condition I qualify for special programs
where I have someone come to my home 1-2 a
week to help with cleaning.
Wish you luck

first off, scolding and treats will not
change anything. It could possibly be
like my brother--they told us he just
slept to hard and his body would not wake
him. He was and is very hyperactive.
He would run so long and so hard--my mom
would say-- he slid in the door--cross the
floor --to the tv and he'd be out soon as
he landed.
Remember it is not a discipline thing, it
is genetic. It is not her fault. It is
more likely for her to be doing this if
she has urinary infection and or kidney
infection also--cant hold it the same.
Hopefully not though.
