Q: Partial Low Lying Placenta/ 20 Weeks

I was told I had a low lying placenta 6 weeks ago. Thus, the no sex order......I had my 20 week ultrasound a few days ago. I am waiting to hear what my doctor has to say. Has anyone on the bboard heard of a "partial low lying placenta". It appears from what the technician said, that half the placenta migrated. The far right side is still low lying.

Do you think given time it will rise too? It's very nerve wracking since I want to have a natural birth. Fyi for those that are not aware, a low lying placenta may mean c-section.

Hey hun,

I was diagnosed with same thing at 18 weeks, I have already done 3 u/s and im 28 weeks now, they ended up finding out I have marginal previa(low laying placenta with part on os/cervix.) usually they dont worry unless there is bleeding/pain, I was spotting a bit and I got bedrest and I was just in pain everyday.

If it doesnt move up by 36 week u/s I will have to have c-section and I have no choice with low laying you can have a natural birth, I did alot of research as I like to know what is going with my body.

As long as placenta isnt covering any part of the of the cervix you wont need a c-section and your still early that it can move up as the same can happen to me if you want anymore info send me an email im always weilling to help especially since your in the same sitiuation.

Take care and wish you lots of luck!!
Jess

I had placenta previa with my third child. It was caught early by u/s and I was ordered not to lift over 5lbs. Dr. Told me that mine would probabaly go back up as the pregnancy progressed and it did. I guess it depends on the severity of the previa. I have heard that total previas are very serious. No matter the severity, please take it easy and try not to use your stomache muscles too much. I used a little trick to get around that......I use my leg muscles in place of my stomache muscles whenever possible. Be carefull!!!

I was told my placenta was low-lying around 24 weeks but it has since corrected itself. My doctor told me that most low placentas start off low and then eventually move, some quicker than others. Try not to worry and good luck!

I don't think the cervix is blocked. I was hoping 6 weeks would be enough to get the darned thing to migrate. My doctor says he'll know more on monday when the radiologist has time to speak w/ him.
I am not in any pain (thankfully) in that region, and only the one time with the spotting. It's important that the baby stays safe........The lack of emotional side of lovemaking with my husband is hard to deal with. I keep telling myself it's temporary.
In the meantime, I am wearing a (doctor approved) thermacare heatwrap on my lower back. Squishy insides has left my core muscles at a loss! Hopefully I will manage to get through the final 4 months. I am glad this bboard is here :)

im 13 weeks pregnant.. i was diagnosed to have placenta previa marginalis.. My doctor told me not to worry because in some cases the placenta can go up but if not i should be prepared to have a c-section at 7 months.. My doctor told me to have bed rest and avoid sexual contact.I stayed in the hospital for 4 weeks. then return to my doctor every two weeks for follow-up check-up including those medicines she give. a progesterone hormone and a uterine relaxant because i keep complaining the pain.. I have premature contraction every now and then..

I had my first u/s @ 19wks. A few days later my doctor called and said I had a low laying placenta. This is my first child, and I'm worried constantly now that something will happen to the baby. I work as a cashier at walmart, and was told that I should'nt lift anything over 20 pounds. Should I try to limit myself to less lifting than that? I was thinking of getting my dr to write a excuse to say I can't lift much and can only work no more than 3 days a week. Think he'll go for it?
