Excited And Worried...epidural Info Posted: 11-19-05 14:59pm
Hi everyone!! My name is tiffany and I am
now in my third trimester. I am due on
the 19th of february. It's a boy!!!
Someone on here said that they quit
working at 4 months. I also did the same,
but financially my husband couldn't make
ends meet so I picked up a job at a
clothing store called goodies...Wasn't too
bad the first 2 weeks, but now I feel as
if I can't do it anymore..I still throw up
and the bottoms of my feet feel as if they
are bleeding half way through my shifts.
I called off today and tomorrow. I hope
hubby does not get mad. I feel terrible
that I can't work like I used too. As for
my pregnancy it seems as if it is going
rather fast..Although like I said I still
struggle with the nausea, throwing up
constantly, major heartburn, lower back
pain, and even numbness under my right
breast. Went to the ob yesterday and he
said everything is normal baby is almost 3
1/2 pounds. Pretty big already if you ask
me. How does everyone feel about the
epidural...Pro's and con's? Does it hurt?
Lol..Funny I want to know...Since labor
is suppost to hurt..Hope everyone has a
quick and safe labor=)

I Know How You Feel. Posted: 11-19-05 19:31pm
Well, I am still working and I am 35
weeks. My husband wasnt making enough,
and I really got tired of staying at home,
it was so boring!!! But I am getting too
tired and my stomach is so uncomfy so I am
going on disability next week (i hate to
do it, but I have to).
As far as the epidural, as you know,
everyone has different opinions. I
personally swear by it. I loved it when
I had my son, who is now eleven months
old. I felt great, and the pains went
away up until maybe two hours before he
came out. Of course they couldnt give
me as much that close because they want
you to feel the contractions. I mean,
there are some folks who swear by natural
birth, and there's that whole myth about
babies coming out drugged, but I dont
believe that. If I am able to, I will
get one with this labor, and dont feel bad
about it. Im am not afraid of needles,
and to me it didnt hurt. There was a
pinch but what psychs most mom's out is
how big the needle looks. In my opinion,
its not bad.
The decision is all up to you. Dont let
anyone make you feel bad if you do want
one, or if you dont want one. This is
your pregnancy, your body, your baby.
Good luck sweets.

Epidural Is Your Choice Posted: 11-24-05 08:44am
Im not against an epidrual as I know the
pain can get really intense, I wont get
one though couldnt be bothered, my mom had
a few epidurals for surgeries but had us
all natural (moms stubborn.) my mother
was with me for the birth of my daughter
and said if I needed med she would back me
up but just having her there gave me
courage to so it even though it was
painful so 100% natural is not for
everyone.
Im 30 wks prego and im going to see how
long I can go no labor is the same but I
may ask for demerol, I personally have a
thing against epidural but everyone I know
get them I just wont do it.
Its your choice dont let anyone tell you
your wrong, why should you have to suffer
to have a happy moment as well as for your
health.

Hi, I am 37 1/2 wks with my second and
ready!!! With my first I had an epidural.
And I loved it. To me the needle going
into my back was not nearly as bad as the
contractions. I had my water break in the
middle of the night and contractions never
really started so they had to put me on
patocin. That makes the pain of your
contractions like 50 times worse.
This time I would like to start labor on
my own so I don't have to have patocin.
But if it gets too bad I wont stop to
think about asking for the epidural. To
me as long as it comes out where god
intended it to that is natural. He
wouldn't have allowed us to create ways of
pain managment if he didn't intend on us
using them. But as always that is my
oppinion. You can only do what you feel
is right. And to me no pain is right ;)
good luck to you and your little one!!

Epidural Info Posted: 12-05-05 23:44pm
Thanks both of you...I am not morally
against it...I am all for it, but I am
scared to death of needles..Especially one
going into my spine. I am just worried
that the pain of the needle going in will
cause me to move and not to be able to sit
still...Does this process take very long?
Can you feel the pain of the needle?

The pain of the needle wasn't as bad as
what I was feeling in my stomach. I think
the numbing meds they give you first kinda
hurt more. You just can't look at what
they are going to stick in you. Ask them
to keep it out of your eyes view. That
really helps. As long as you have someone
to lean on it makes sitting still much
easier. And that if you keep in mind they
are messing with your spine you will stay
really still. Once it is over you will be
kissing your doctor, it will all be worth
it.

Good luck with your baby!!!
I had an epidural with my first child but
not with my second (all natural). Me
personally, I would never have one again.
Sure, the pain is bad, but I felt as
though I had no control over the
situation. But everyone is different and
I think that is a decision that you have
to make on your own.

I had both my kids natural (i was 17 my
first and 18 with my second) they were
huge babies too. I am really scared of
needles and I saw my friend get an
epidural it it was the most horrible thing
I have ever seen lol I have a bad phobia
of needles lol yeah having a baby hurts
but it's not something that you can't get
through, I just kept telling myself that
people have been doing it for centrys
without an epidural and I was strong
enough to get through it. It sure feels
good knowing I was able to do it natural,
I know that if I could get through that I
can do anything! Lol

That is what I plan on getting is an
epidural. I am due on february 1st and
that has been my plan since I was in my
second trimester. I am sure it might hurt
a little bit but I think it will
definitley be worth it since labor lasts
kinda long. This is my first pregnancy so
it is new to me but all of you girls will
be fine. Don't worry about the pain just
think of all the excitement of being able
to hold your baby for the first time. I
know that is probably easier said then
done but that is all I think about I keep
thinking how nervous I am about giving
birth mostly because this is my first time
and I don't know what to expect but then
I think how anxcious I am to have my baby
and being able to hold her for the first
time, bringing her home, and being able to
really spoil her. I heard it's the most
painful thing you'll ever go through but
the easiest to forget. Best of luck to
all of you!
