a Few Questions...please Help

I think I am having anxiety attacks but want to go to the Dr. Just in case its heart related. I was wondering, how much do the cardiograms and bloodwork and all that cost? And what do they all do to you in these situations, like what tests and stuff? We don't have insurance yet, we have to buy our own and we plan on getting it within the month but i'd like to go in soon so I will end up paying out of my own pocket for it. Also, how long do everyone's symptoms last? Seems like mine have been going on for days straight with hardly any breaks, and all new symptoms. It seems like every part of my body is acting up! Headaches, arm pains, leg tremors, chest pains, back pain, shoulder pain(really bad in right shoulder/chest area), throat muscle and inner ear pain and tightening...The list goes on. I'm a 20 year old female, not overweight, do not smoke, do not drink more than 1 cocktail a month if that, but am not very active and don't normally watch what I eat but don't think I eat that badly except for salt which I know is bad...Could it be a heart attack? I'm getting freaked out and thinking of going to the e.R. But I went one other time, freaking out, for a severe headache when I thought I was having an aneurism and nothing ended up being wrong so I felt pretty dumb, coming out of there with 10 minutes of the Dr. Talking to me, one painkiller, a cat scan and a 5,000 dollar bill that we had to pay right away all because I freaked out over nothing. Plus my husband is getting soooo annoyed with me complaining of aches all the time he is not taking this time seriously. Pain is worst in both shoulder areas. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi there,

everything you have said sounds anxiety related. I have had every test known to man regarding different illnesses and thank god they were all negative. He problem with anxiety is that you really don`t believe what the doctor says unless you have the test results to prove it. But you should believe your doctors they generally are correct. Sometimes the test puts your mind at ease but its a very expensive way to do so.

Reading up on anxiety and things can be a relief in itself. This message board is great for reassurance and to share your experiences but be careful you don`t research too much as you are feeding your anxiety by doing so. I`m only 24 so I know how terrifying it can be thinking the worst and the fact that you are so young pretty much rules out the most horrific medical conditions.

Ask anyone on here and I bet they will tell you they have diagnosed themselves with heart attacks, brain tumors, strokes etc. The mind is a powerful thing but rest assured that it can get better as anxiety is a learned behaviour and its just that us anxious people focus on it a lot more than others.

Good luck!

Wow you sound just like me.

I'm going through the same thing. For the last three weeks i've had bad anxiety and panic. It started one night with a really bad panic attack that woke me out of sleep. I still can't help thinking it's a heart problem eventhough i'm only 25, inshape, eat right, and have no family history of heart illness. I'm still wating to get blood test back and have an ecg, so I still feel very anxious about the whole thing. And I always seem to notice things wrong with me daily, but everyone assures me it's all related to the anxiety.
I understand what your going through. I have also went to the emergency room to find out i'm fine (but I have the priviledge of living in canada where a trip to the emergency room doesn't cost anything).
I'm sorry for what you're going through, but it's comforting to me to know that there are other people out there like me.

Reading and gathering info on anxiety is very helpful in itself, here is a quick video with some real helpful stuff in it. Let me know what you think.
