Early Blood Test - False Neg? Posted: 11-20-05 23:47pm
Hi - had to go in for a referral - thought
I would quench my suspicions and ask for a
blood test. He administered a
qualitative blood test. It came back
negative :cry: but I do admit that I am
not due for my period for another 5-6
days. Aprox - 9-12 dpo..... I do not
know how sensitive it is - though I read
that it could be so far as 50mlu.
So - am I right to keep some hope alive?
The symptoms are there....Cramps - sore
boobs - heartburn - ect.

I think blood tests are pretty much
accurate. The only thing you can do is
wait and see if you do miss your period.

Hi - blood tests are very accurate -but I
found out that the qualitative that they
gave me is a "yes or no" type of test.....
Their level of "yes" is at 25 hcg!
So - being approx 9-12 dpo could I poss
not have hcg high enough - or should I be
and just expect my period in the next few
days?

No set facts in science. Maybe your
levels re just not that high yet. I
thought you had to be 2 weeks at least for
blood test to come out. That is what I
heard "someone on here" say. So I dont
know. But your not quite 2 weeks yet are
you? Good luck dont give up hope yet.
There is such a thing as false neg
too--but the medical site I got that from
says 17.6% of urine test never coome out
on some women, and 2% blood tests dont
come out. But they were talking about in
ectopic pregnancy--so I dont know if I
normal pregnancy 2% is correct or not.

I dont know exactly when I ovulated -
based on lmc - it should have been 11/9 -
11/11. So I know I am not 2 weeks
yet.... But my symptoms for the last
week have been:
just waiting for a difinative result - and
when the Dr. Told me neg.....Thought that
was enough. Now I am back where I
started because I may have done the test
too early :0(
