I got my tb from the philippines. I was
recently sick from tb in the lymph nodes.
I am done with my meds but im still
recovering. I had a lump on my left side
of the neck. Now its just a hole in my
skin with some pus.
It was so weird because all my years
living (13 years) in the philippines, i've
never heard or seen anybody being sick
with tb.
From what i've heard/learned from the
health dept. And infectious doctors, you
can only get sick with active tb if your
immune system is weak and unable to fight
it. But for someone to be infected with
tb, a person who is sick with pulmonary tb
has to cough or sneeze or something for
you to be infected with tb. The first
place that tb will invade is your lungs.
And it can either spread out or become
contained in a scar tissue. But not
everybody who has inactive tb will get
active tb. Just depends on how strong
their immune system is. If you're
positive with tb infection (ppd skin
test), you will always be positive.
There's no medicine to completely
eliminate the tb infection.
The scar tissue means that you were
infected with someone who had pulmonary tb
but your immune system was able to fight
it. As long as you don't get sick or
anything, then you're good. Keep your
immune system strong. I just had a baby
a few months before finding out that I had
tb. My doctor said that because I was
pregnant and had a baby, that my immune
system became weak. And that's how I got
sick with tb.
If you come to the us, you can visit the
health department. They have clinics to
check if you have tb and prescribe
medicines to prevent tb from becoming
active. Or if you have active tb, they
have programs and medicines to help you
recover from tb.

I have inactive TB and was left with a TB
scar. When my doctor diagnosed me with PTB
minimal 18 years ago, he immediately
precribed me with the six month
medication. Though I worried and was
ashamed to have acquired the disease, I
kept my faith and confidence. I held good
jobs in the Philippines. My fears surfaced
only in the last five years when it was
time for our office annual physical
examination. My TB scar always appear in
my x-ray results. Good thing, my good and
renowned internist-pulmonologist in one of
the Philippines most modern hospitals
assured me that I have nothing to worry
because my TB was treated and inactive.
And that it would be perfectly ok if I
want to work abroad.
So I left for Singapore. My fear dawned on
me again when it was time for me to get
medical report specifically for x-ray and
HIV tests which are required by Singapore
Immigration. I prayed so hard to God and
all my intercessors coupled with my aunt's
pray over. When I got the results, I was
completely ecstatic! My lungs are clear,
none of the scar, fibrosis, and haziness
in my x-ray. I don't know if it's miracle
but i really consider it one! Thanks God.
So for all of you out there, let not your
TB scar derail your plans. Just take good
care of your health and pray. God bless!
