Cancer? Medical Advice? Bleeding Colon? Posted: 12-13-03 18:48pm
Hi I am 48 years of age, caucasion, and
now out of work. I went to the hospital
back in september as a result of constant
bleeding from the colon. The Dr. At the
hospital scheduled a colonoscopy/endoscopy
test. I went through the routine of
extreme laxitive and had the test done. I
then folowed up with the doctor. I was
told at the follow up that I had several
small tumors, and what he thaought was
chronis desease. But since I had no
insurance he would be unable to help any
further. As a result of this little bit
of news I have lost my job, my house, my
car, I have even sold off most of my
furniture. I ended up moving to kansas
city where I am now staying with a friend
until I can bet back on my feet. I still
have the rectal bleeding I lose about 1/4
- 1/2 pint of blood per day in the stool
it isn't always bright red at first but
later in the day it becomes bright red.
This has been going on for more than 4
months and without insurance a person
might as well just die and get it over
with. I made too much money in 2003 in
accordance to any social agencies, I can
not even qualify for unemployment benifits
because of my exemployer. If I go back to
my exemployer I do not make enough to
purchase insurance, if I change jobs and
find a job that offers insurance it will
most likely not cover a pre-existing
condition. The dr I saw also told me that
there was a blockage in the decending
colon and he had to stop the test. He
offered no explination of the blockage, or
treatment options, or what to do now. I
feel that I was just dumped on and I have
no idea where to go or what to do next.
Does anyone out ther have any suggestions
or solotuions. I would be most anxious to
here from you. Despair at christmas time
in kansas city!

Hi From Florida Posted: 03-03-04 06:51am
I wanna tell you that you are in my
prayers, plus I hope this has been
resolved. Here in florida, you can apply
for the medical needy, which means, you
show up at the emergency room, they bill
you, you have to go and apply for
medically needy ( medicaid share of cost)
this should apply to you as well. Where
ever you are...Since its a bla bla bush
and clinton country now, I was at the dr
office yesterday and found that my share
of cost had expired, due to a social
worker whom didnt send me any news, plus
this floored me,, my sweet nice dr that
had taken care of me, ( my urologist) said
if I had 50.00 in my pocket he would see
me..I was hurt frustrated, and left his
office with a urinary tract infection, I
had a hysterectomy last november -2003...
Its true to a point that you must fight..
Please dont give up!
