Will Know Soon.... Posted: 11-22-05 20:29pm
I am new to this, but am looking for a
support network....I miscarried at 13
weeks in august, and have been trying ever
since to get pregnant again. I can see
why they suggest waiting....I have put
myself through hell for each month,
convinced I was pregnant again, when the
test is always negative. I will probably
find out if I am this month on thursday.
The most likely cause of my miscarriage
was toxoplasmosis. I don't have a cat.
Anyone else test positive for it???????

I just read about toxoplasmosis. It is
caused by a parasite that may be acquired
by contact with cat feces or raw meat and
transmitted through the placenta. Here is
some nurse teaching out of my textbook:
cook all meat thoroughly, wash hands and
all kitchen surfaces after handling raw
meat, avoid touching the mucous membranes
of the eyes or mouth while handling raw
meat, avoid uncooked eggs and
unpasteurized milk, wash fresh fruits and
vegetables well, avoid materials
contaminated with cat feces such as litter
boxes, sand boxes, and garden soil.
I'm sorry for your loss. Give your body
time to recover from the last pregnancy,
and it'll happen again. Stop trying so
hard to get pregnant. It always happens
when we're not expecting it! Good luck!!!
