Sometimes not all the time. They can tell the sex of a baby after 17 weeks. But they have a better accurate chance after 20wks. That is as long as they baby cooperates

Sex of Baby
Where I live they will not let us know what the sex of the baby is. I am thirty weeks myself and still do not know. I would have to make an appointment at a special ultrasound clinic and pay a large fee to find out. This was implemented mainly for two reasons: 1. There is no medical reason to find out; 2. There are some cultures where males are more important than females and upon finding out the sex of the baby is female, the mother will abort the child and try for a boy. I think this is awful! However, I kinda like not knowing. The baby, being my first, is healthy and i'm very happy about this:)

I wanted to know, my husband did not. We still don't know despite the 20 week ultrasound. I have a feeling it's a boy.

What happened with me, was the umbilical cord was inbetween the baby's legs! The technician said "98% chance agirl". I asked why she could tell even if most of the plumbing was obscured. Outcome, we still don't know. At this point, it doesn't really matter. I am hoping for healthy!

Hey

stephanie you in canada??? If you are there is another way to find out the sex just ask u/s tech to send results to dr and then dr can tell you or will tell you in certain cases not till after 25 weeks so no abortion (its sad)

I went to an ultrasound clinic and actually observed a couple fighting because his wife wouldnt get an abortion(it was a girl) and well they had to have security remove him from the building....

Most major hospitals will tell you the sex as well I found out at 24 weeks as they wouldnt tell me orginally what the sex was.......

I have never been pregnant yet, but a few of my friends who had babies told me their story. They had an u/s done at 5 months to make sure the baby is ok and the doc would ask them if they would like to know the sex of their baby. I hear more and more about people not wanting to know the sex, but everyone is different I guess. I think I would want to know the sex that way I know whether or not to buy girl or boy stuff. Lol

that is just horrible.. People need to be happy about what .God gave them and not care about what the sex is. There is technology now that can guarantee you having a boy or girl.. But I think that is just wrong.

Yeah I had an ultrasound done as soon as I went to my first dr's appointment he booked me one right away, I was about 2 months then.. And the ultrasound place is downstairs from my doctor.. So I get the ultrasound and then right after go to my appt upstairs with my obstetriccian and give him the envelope the ultrasound ppl gave me.. And my dr will look at the results and let me know.. I know cuz thats how hes been doing it for other ppl.. I think I only get 2 ultrasounds during my pregnanc so I was hoping id be able to find out now..
