My daughter is 6mo pregant and has a cold and has been today vomiting well she can't keep any thing on her stomach . She's been to see the doc but they only gave her antibontics for her cold. What can she take to get over this mess? I'm worried!

Hi there, my sister had the flu when she was pregnant. The doctor just told her to ride it out, and to drink gingerale. It settles the stomach. Give that at try. I dont know of anything else because there isnt much you can take when you are pregnant. Good luck and I hope she feels much better soon.

She can take robutussin dm and tylenol for her cold symptoms and for her nausea, the doctor can prescribe fenergan suppositories.

The suppositories are weird to use but because she is vomiting, they will not be thrown up.

As far as increasing her fluid intake and making sure she is well rested, that is about all you can do. If she ends up not drinking anything, you are going to need to get her into the er asap! The more dehydrated she becomes, the more danger she and the baby are in.

Also moniter her temp regularly(every 4 hours) and if her temp continues to rise, and she will not drink, get her to the er and if she refuses to go, call 911 and have her taken to the hospital. I know it sounds dramatic but both her and the baby could be in serious jeapordy if left unattended to.

Thank you all for your info. This is my first grand child and I just want my daughter to stay healthy during this time. She went to work today hope she can handle it.I worry about her all she has is me to really support her and help her. She'll be 18 when the baby is born and the father or (donor) as I call him, most likely won't be a part of there life. But she will be fine because she's strong willed like her mom. Thank you all she does fell better for now.

Did she take any medicines to help her ease the pain of her cold? I know it has been beaten into our heads that women cannot take medicine when they are pregnant but in this day and age, it is fully possible for moms to take medicine and not harm thier babies.

I am glad to hear that she is feeling better though.
