Does This Sound Like a Gallbladder Attack ?

I am a 35 yr old female who had a hysterctomy just 12 days ago. I was feeling pretty good from my surgery and went to thanksgiving dinner which of course I ate way to much. A few hours later I had really bad nausea. Iwent to bed early, woke up during the night felling very ill and and very constipated, thought maybe it was the flu. Never did back to sleep- I then started having a dull achy pain in the middle right side of my stomach. Within a few hours I was intense pain. I knew a few seconds before it would hit it was coming. It would be a wave of pain under my breast and go around to my back- just on the right side. I was in costant pain but that severe feeling was coming every 10 to 15 minutes. I went to the er- I was literally crying from the pain. Everyone there was convinced it was my gallbladder. I had an ultrasound of the gallbladder and it came back negative and with no stones. I did have blood in my urine so er doc thought it was a kidney stone. I have had stones before and the pain was similar but with kidney stones the pain was very low and on the left side. Anyway, I was admitted to the hospital and then given a ct scan to find a kidney stone- well that came bact negative also. A urologist came in and told me he thought I passed a kidney stone(that is what the blood in the urine was from) but it sure sounds like gallbladder to him and her referred mr to a surgeon saying that you can have gallbladder attacks with no stones. My question is has anyone ever experienced this? Can you indeed have problems and your ultrasound is fine. Why a surgeon and not a gastro doc? I know I should have asked him that but I guess with all the morphine I was not thinking straight! Any thoughts on this would be appreciated- is a surgeon just gonna want to take it out. Oh also been having sharp short pain in my left shoulder not right on and off couple of days before this all happened. Thanks...

It does sound like gallbladder pain & yes you can have attacks even without stones. You need to get some further tests done, as your gallbladder may not be working properly & therefore giving you attacks. Go back to your drs. Good luck!
