Pain In the Right Side of My Back
Posted: 11-28-05 01:34am

I have been getting this pain in the right side of my back just below the rib cage. It has started recently in the past few months I get it after sititng down for a long lenth of time like sitting at the computer for 2 hours or so or riding in a car for several hours. It is very painfull and is extremely painful to stand up still it seems to go away if I lean to the left or bend forward some but if I lean to the right it gets worse.

Also I do alot of heavy living im 21 and weigh 130lbs and I sometimes lift 60 or 70+ pound boxes regularly. I have hurt my lower back before from lifting usually a sharp pain that last only a few hours bu I have never had it so high up before. It usually goes away after I lay down for a while.

Anyone know what it could be could it just be muscle pain from sitting in one position for so long or could it be somthing else worse inside. I have never had this up until just liek 3 or so months ago. I work at my computer alot during the day but at night I do alot of gaming online I am on the road with my dad somtimes 12 houars aday for 3 days a aeek and have been for many years and this just started now.

There is a high liklyhhod that you have some muscle damage to the thoracic region of your back. You should see your family doctor and see if he concurs and if there are spasms, maybe he will prescribe some form of muscle relaxer and a mild pain med along with rest and possibly ice/heat and physical therapy.

If you are at the begining stages of having back problems, I would advise you to begin going to college now and try to get a bachelors in something that is not going to be too physical, the reason I say this is because I am in the same shape you are in now. I was making close to 80k a year as a power plant shift supervisor and now I am disabled and cannot go back to what I know. I have to start over and it is really hard to go to college at 33 with a 1 month old baby and terrible back pain still.

Dont hesitate to go to your doc and if this is work related, claim it. I didnt and I will be without disability pay by the end of next year. Not a good life choice for me!

Good advice, get to a doctor and get checked out. You don't want to mess around with a back injury. I did and now i'm permantly disabled and have permanent nerve damage. Good luck to you .
