Has anyone ever had really painful braxton hicks???

I was up for an hour last night and they were coming in every 5-6 mins, I put ice on my belly (heat pads make me feel sick_) and well they finally went away but I waa incredibly exhausted after.

I know not every pregnancy is the same but this just didnt feel right, I keep getting them but usually not that close together now I told dr today and he said their is a possibility I may be due sooner because my u/s have already given three different dates....... Dr also said they are going to stick with orginal date feb 2 but he said I may be due earlier or I have one heck of a big baby....

Im seeing a family practice so I never see the same dr, im so confused everytime I see a dr I get different info the only good info I have gotten is baby is 100% healthy and my placenta has moved up to low laying instead of previa...

Sorry for the long post im just bloody confused!

The best advice I can give in this instance is the advice our ob doc gave to my wife.

When you are feeling the braxton-hicks and even moreso when you are feeling like you are in labor, you need to drink several 8 oz. Glasses of water and lay down on your left side for about an hour. If the contractions stop and you feel better then all that was wrong is that you were dehydrated if the pain does not go away than most likly you are in real labor and you are no longer experiencing braxton-hicks but real labor contractions.

Good luck,

When ever you are having contractions like that. You need to call your doctor to let them know. They might just want you to come in to check you. You might be further along than what was said. The u/s is not 100% accurate the further along in a pregnancy.

Also you need to lay down and drink pretty of fluids preferably water. If lying on your side and drinking water doesnt stop the pains then you are more than likely in labor.. If you drinl the water and it stops then you could just have been dehyderated..

Good luck to you
