Extreme Dizziness During Exercise Posted: 11-29-05 15:05pm
Hi everyone,
lateley i've been very anxious and I have
had a couple of panic attacks. At least
I hope that's all it is. The cause of my
anxiety is that I feel there is something
wrong with my heart. I'm only 25 and I
work out and eat right, but I have this
irrational fear of having serious heart
problems. What makes me think so is that
throughout the day I experience high heart
rate, punding heart, pain/discomfort in
under my left shoulder blade, and other
weird sensations in my chest.
The worst though is the extreme dizziness
I experience lately when working out.
Besides the dizziness, my heart rate more
intense than usually (pounding really
hard), and I don't seem to get as hot and
sweety anymore (more like a cold sweet) I
love to work out and fear that it's being
"taken" away from me. Can anxiety and
stress cause the dizziness and other
things i'm experiencing while working out?

Chris, I can totally relate!!!
I have been going through horrible anxiety
lately. I am a very avid gym-goer, 4x a
week faithfully. High impact, the whole
deal. I haven't been there though in
almost two months because I am scared. I
have taken myself to the e.R. Twice in
the last 6 weeks because I didn't know
what was wrong with me. No heart
problems (except high cholesterol), so
there should be nothing preventing me to
work out once again. I do get horrible
dizziness and i'm sure when I get back to
the gym it'll happen, but I am going to
try to be prepared mentally for it. This
very morning in fact I am missing my
favorite sports circuit class, which I am
bummed about. But I can not seem to get
there. Saw my doctor yesterday and she
said I need to get back to my normal
schedule and that includes the gym. But
i'm still apprehensive.
She just started me on lexapro. Not sure
if i'm happy about that, I don't like long
term meds at all, that's not me. Oh
well. In any event chris i'm in the same
boat. I'm 34 and have been going to the
gym since I was 18, and it's so weird to
have this problem now!!!
