Jyy2, Baking Soda? How Is This Possible? Have You......

Had a doctor, lab tech, etc.... To find out the cause on these effects? I know just from reading on numerous forums that you are pretty much the goutisgone inventor. I really applaud you for that, you must have changed so many lives. Judging from all of your testimonials, im sure you have alot more. But can you give us a hit/no hit ratio? I know that alot of the people here will probably not take the correct dose or not do it right for it to work.
As for me, what is the best way for me to drink the baking soda. I cannot go to a doctor, I have no insurance till january next year. I have high blood pressure. I have had gout on and off for 6 years now....This year being my worst episodes. I have had to use prednisone twice this year to rid my gout. Colchicine works sometimes, but only if I mix it with the indomethacin and gor for about 3 days straight, going through diarhea and head aches (better pain than the intensity 10 of gout I always say).
I am 36 years old now. I am using blood pressure medicine, paying out of my own pocket for all my meds. I am about 15 lbs over weight and also have a pretty solid body since I have been extremely into lifitng weights since I was 17. I have'nt lifted for about 6 years now since I have really gotten into my hobby (brazilian jiu jitsu martial arts) for the last 10 years. I want to continue with it, but this year it has stopped me flat in my tracks.
Is there a way that I can start to take half the dose that you reccomend and experiment? Or is it based on bodyweight? I know there will still be alot of experimenting till we get the accurate dosages for this.
Thank you and hope you can help me also on this.
God bless

I am very sorry you have gout. I am not a healthcare professinal. All my postings are for info only.

Baking soda in water is not a treatment for gout in the mainstream medicine. I just accidentally found it to be extremely useful in getting rid of my acute gout more than 3 years ago. It seemed to have worked for many others too. To date, among the 266 people who responded to my survey question: "if you have tried baking soda to treat and prevent gout, was baking soda ... ", 59% said it's extremely useful, 12% very useful, and 15% useful... My explanation on why baking soda in water can help gout is given in paragraph 2.7, section 2, in http://www.Icuredmygout.Org . Unfortunately, my attempts to raise the interest of the healthcare professionals on the issue has resulted in total failure.

Since baking soda in water is not for treatment of gout in the mainstream medicine, I could not find a reputable source on its dosage for treating gout. However, for use as antacid (in otherwise healthy person), the dosage is 1/2 teaspoon in 4 oz. Of water every 2 hours up to 7 times a day; for alkalizing the urine is one teaspoon in 8 oz. Of water every 4 hours up to 4 times a day. More info about baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) can be found at: ht tp://www.Nlm.Nih.Gov/medlineplus/druginfo/ uspdi/202525.Html .

The pain and the stress caused by gout attacks can significantly raise the blood pressure -- up to 210/110 in some people . Nsaids and some other meds used to treat gout can also raise the bp. If you have high bp, I suggest do not take baking soda because it can cause the body to retain extra water to increase the bp. You may find the following helpful to your gout:
* lose the extra weight gradually.

* if you are taking thiazide or loop diuretics to treat your hypertension, talk to your doctor about taking them off or reducing the dosage.

* ask your doctor if it's ok to switch your hypertension med to losartan/cozaar. It can reduce both bp and the uric acid level at the same time!

* track down the triggers of your gout attacks and avoid them. They could be be dehydration, starvation, heavy exercise, certain food or drinks (especially alcohol), medicines, heat from hot weather, physical & mental stress, ...

* other suggestions mentioned in section 2 of http://www.Icuredmygout.Org .

January is just around the corner. I suggest that you see a rheumatologist (gout & arthritis specialist) about your gout. Good luck and take care.

Jyy2 is dead on. As a doctor explained lossing weight is both a great thing to do and bad. Your body is excreting uric acid all the time. As you loss weight the tissue being destroyed increases uric acid so lossing weight can cause a gout attack. However, since you make x amount of enzyme (that right?) to deal with uric acid the less you weigh the better your body can deal with uric acid on its own.

So, to recap, lossing weight is good and bad. Ultimately, it is good, however. I think the enzyme is a fixed amount. If you get below a certain weight you allow the body to do its job at uric acid elimination.

Baking powder may help temporary or short term period like drugs allopurinol, aspirin, nsaids, costicosteriods etc. When you body resists against such chemicals. Once there is excessive uric acid in the blood it will continue to crystallize and the kidneys are not working fast enough to get rid off excessive uric acids. It is like thermometer either going up or down e.G. Attack may be triggered oweing to wrong foods taken etc.

To reverse gout, it requires herbs, diet over a long period of time and I have not taken any drugs for over 10 years!. The reversal is gradual and natural. First, I can control pain without drugs but with herbs. Second, the appropriate herbs can convert uric acid and crystals into gases and dispose off naturally. Third, there are vigorous movements of blood to clear the blockage and swells in the veins that trigger sensational and continuous movements of toes and affected joints during attacks. Once all these pain, swells, discharge of toxic wastes are under your control and command then once is a a master of gout.
