My daughter is six yrs old and is
complaining of seeing colored spots. She
actually asked me, "mommy, do you see that
purple dot, and that pink one over there?"
at first I shrugged it off. She seems
healthy. She has a bit off a cold right
now. Sometimes complains of headaches.
She has now mentioned it making it about a
month since first recognizing it. I made
an appt. With her pediatrician. I also
looked up on the web and see people
talking about floaters. She's only six
and I just get concerned for other
underlying problems. Anyone heard of
this? Camille

Camille,
my six yr old son has complained
of the same things on and off for the past
6 months. I had him examined at the
pediatrician, allergist (he takes shots
for seasonal allergies), and at a
pediatric optometrist...All to no avail.
He gets an occasional headache also.
Most recently, tonight, he saw what he
described as a turqoise spot on a rug in
front of him. We were playing video
games at the time together. The
pediatrician asked if we had a history of
migraines, (my sister in-law does). The
pediatrician said the spots may be a
precursor to that. Additionally, the
pediatrician recommended he not eat
processed foods (to prevent migraines).
Have you found out anything about your
daughter that could be helpful to us?
Thanks,
jim

Thank you for your reply. I am sorry I
have no more news or information. What
you said goes with all the research I did
on the internet. She has not complained
for 2 months now about seeing spots but
has been complaining about off & on
headaches. Something that just came to
mind was that there is suspicion of mold
in her classroom. I am starting to
wander if this could be related. I may
check that out also. Thanks-csharp

colored spots Posted: 04-21-08 17:37pm
Hi Ladies,
My son started complaining about seeing
colored spots when he was 5. I have had
him seen by a pediatric opthamologist who
gave me the impression he thought my son
was making it up. He is now 8 and
continues to have spots in his vision. He
describes them as different colors and
some are bigger than others. He has
allergies and asthma and has been on
zyrtec and Flonase since he was about
three. He does not get headaches. He is
now 8 and says he has trained himself to
ignore them, just to look past them. Aside
from his allergies he is a healthy active
boy who has lots of friends and makes
excellent grades. The spots don't seem to
be affecting him as much emotionally as
they used to. If anyone ever gets a
diagnosis I would love to hear what they
are.
