Hi,
i suffer from excessive hirsutism and was
wondering if anyone was aware of
alternative treatments for it. The only
one that i've come across is the use of
saw palmetto (if that's how its spelt) but
im not sure of how to use it, in which
form and where to get it from. I have
read that acupuncture and diet changes
also help, but I have been unable to find
specifics on how to go about this.
It would really help if someone could
point me to information or resources that
might help me in dealing with this. Ive
had this all my life (ever since I was a
kid) and it has consequently affected my
self esteem to a great degree. I've
never learned to swim and have stopped
going to the beach completely, never worn
a tank top, shy away from social
situations, avoid getting intimate with
people that I love very much and now find
myself leaning towards gender dysphoria
and experiencing feelings of penis envy
and penis desire because ive never been
able to fully manifest (or perceive)
myself as a woman.
Just so it helps to answer
im
female
19
vegetarian
south asian
reside in mississauga, canada (thats so if
anyone knows any clinics/stores that I go
to for help. Clinics/stores in toronto
can also be recommended).
Thanks a lot
i hope everyone is having a good day.
Ps-if anyone has any suggestions apart
from alternative treatments, that's
welcome too. Personally,
waxing/sugaring/epilating dont work too
well because my hair is rather thick and I
end up with ingrown hairs that leave scars
behind. I've looked into laser therapy
and electrolysis but its all a bit
expensive for me at the moment (i'm 19).
Would anyone know whether electrolysis and
laser hair removal are covered by health
insurance?
Thanks again

It sounds like you may have excess male
hormones. This can cause excess hair
growth and maybe explain your gender
feelings.
I would advise you to go see an
endocrinologist and get blood work and
everything else tested.
