Hey everyone, I am just shy of 28 weeks
and my next appointment, which is this
wed. I have to get my shot. I don't know
what it's called, but it's because I have
a+ blood. Does anyone happen to know
where they administer this shot?
I can't stand needles. I just did
bloodwork the other day for my glucose
tolerance test....That went ok, but a shot
to me seems like it's sure gonna hurt
more! So if anyone knows where this is
gonna be i'd sure like to know before I go
to the doctor so i'm not surprised. My
mom really thinks it's in the butt, but
i'm hoping not!!! Thanks for any info!!

If you are talking about the rogam shot
for .R.H factor, you would be a-
and I am pretty sure it is either in the
butt or in the arm. I am not sure. My
briother and his wife .R.H factor, my
daughter .R.H factor

Oh, ouch lol
i had my appointment today and was
supposed to get my shot, but they wanted
me to get a flu shot. So they did the flu
shot today and I go back in a week to get
my other shot. So I asked if they were
going to do it in the same arm, or my
other arm....And she said they could do it
in either of my arms since the soreness
would be gone by the time I come back. So
I hope I get it in the arm!!!! Thanks for
your reply tho!

ps i'm keeping my fingers crossed that
it's in my arm and the nurse didn't want
to tell my it was in the butt! Lol

Only Neccessary Is Mommy Blood Type Is Neg. Posted: 01-08-06 18:59pm
The shot is only given to women who have a
negative blood type. Because the negative
factor is so rare is why it's given. Also
because if the baby is a positive factor
the negative antibodies will begin to
attack the baby's positive.
I am a(-) and need the shot as well. My
doctor said that if the father was a
negative as well I would have no problems.
But of course...He's not.
And the location of the shot all depends
on your doctor..So I might get it in the
arm as where you get it in the rear
hip(butt).

Babymaj, I just had an appointment and my
doctore said that since I am a+ and I have
to get one here pretty soon and any shot
they can give you in the butt they can
give you in the arm, it all goes in the
same place.

Maybe... Posted: 01-09-06 08:26am
Maybe it's the type of a that needs the
shot. Although my mom was o(-) and had to
receive the shot. Anywhoo..I hate
needles.
I am planning on a natural childbirth..(as
in no epidural.)lol..I am going to
schedule one in case of an emergency
though. They are ectremely hard to
receive if you're not scheduled and I
don't want an emergency one! I'm looking
into doullas to help me relax during the
birth as well.
I know that it's going to be extreemely
painful but so far no one has been
positive about my decision! Thousands of
women do it everyday and have no problem
so what's the difference. My doc is not
one to push the epidural on his patients
due to they can't feel anything and it
kind of makes his job harder.
